I want to invest in a crockpot to make some of these recipes. I work and it would be so nice to have a dinner waiting for me.
Question is what size to get. What size do most of the recipes call for? I live alone so only cooking for myself, but if I made these recipes I could also freeze the leftovers.
Or doesn't the size really matter? I've seen them from 2 quarts to 6 quarts and need one that will accomidate these recipes. Thanks

I'd recommend a medium-sized one for the leftover factor. Just make sure that the cooking pot itself is removable from the heating element for cleaning purposes. I don't even know if they still make the old-fashioned kind that you can't remove, but they are a pain to clean.
Have fun - they're great! It's so nice to come home to dinner all made.

Is medium considered 3 quart or 6 quart. I'm sort of dumb with cooking altogether. This will be a new skill!

Hi Beth!
Here's one for you to try... Rival 3-qt Slow Cooker I have two slow cookers, and this is the one I mainly use. 3 qts is about average for most recipes (the recipes that require more generally say to use a bigger one). This one is especially good because you can remove the interior part because it's stonewear. That and most Targets and WalMarts carry it. Hope this helps you.

Now once I get one I can try Casey infamous Potato Chowder soup. I have all the ingredients, just needed the appliance.
I noticed you had quite a few yummy recipes listed too! I'm so excited to start cooking.
BTW did you ever get a timer for yours? When I was doing a search on crock pots to try and find the answer to size question, I ran across a link on timing in case you couldn't be home by the time the recipe was done. Which will be the case for me. Or does yours have a built in timer? I can't remember from the post.
Thanks again

I remember that thread, but I can't remember if I needed a timer or not. You see, I have one with a timer and one without. A timer is a perfect tool to use though.

That's weird. I have a much older hand-me-down version of the 6 qt and it has never burned my food either.
