Yes, I myself only where them for "special occassions ". You couldn't pay me to wear them all the time! According to my sister though if you wear them for a whole week straight then you can get used to them. I'd never last one day. I'd be picking my butt all day. And make panytliners for them? What's up with that? What's the point? I'm sure of course these "younger" gals wear them all the time with no problem. I think it must be a generation thing.

I only wear those cussed things if I know they're gonna be coming right off within a very short period of time. Haha.
I tried wearing thongs, back in high school. I even got some nice "comfortable" cotton ones. No way, Jose... darn little T-shaped torture devices. Who on earth would want to get USED to that?!

Hi Caryn!!!! I'm not one for wearing thongs everyday, however I have on a few occasions. The only reason is if I'm wearing pants that are tight enough to show lines. My one friend on the other hand won't wear anything but. psst...no wonder she acts like she's got a stick up her butt somethimes. hee hee

I tried these things a few years ago because that's all you saw in the Victoria Secret catalogue, and when I got my copy in the mail, hubby's eyes bulged out of his head.
These things are the most incomfortable invention, compared only to pointed-toe stiletto heels, obviously both of which were invented by men -- for men!
I gave all my thongs to my best friend. She and her hubby are having a wonderful time with them.
I'm getting too old for this stuff....

Nope, I don't get it either. My friend Katy wears them all the time and she says they're very comfortable... but she doesn't have me fooled. She did convince me to buy one on sale at the Gap... but I haven't even tried it on yet! I just bought it to shut her up, lol.

I do wear them all the time. Well most of the time. I have to wear dress pants to work and I hate panty lines! You really do get used to them. Of course when it's that time of the month then I try to wear loose enough fitting pants that you can't see any panty lines, then I like the new boy cut type of panties.

I do own some. Some were a gag gift from a wedding shower (it was a letter shower and the girls buying them for me got the letters K and T and came up with Kinky Thongs ) Those are more like G strings and I don't really wear them period. More often I wear some cotton ones or a really nice netted one I picked up at the Vicki's Secret Sale. It really is comfortable, but the only one I've ever owned that was. It must be the sort of thing where you have to experiment until you find one that is comfortable and then buy a bunch of that kind. More often I just wear looser pants though.

okay but i still dont see the point. is it just so you can't see the panty line? ....my pet PEEVE is seeing young girls/teens wearing tight low hip huggers with the top of their thong sticking out...obviously on purpose too. ick!

Oh yeah... it's to avoid the panty line. Or, my thong is flesh colored so when I wear my white summer pants it doesn't show through.
And yeah, I completely object to the thong out of the pants look. Teaching college kids, I see EVERYTHING worn to 10 am classes. It's amazing what these people think is appropriate to wear to learn in. We're talking scarves as tops, little tiny skirts, guys in shorts who sit with their legs wide open. Yeesh. No wonder some schools make kids wear uniforms!!!

I saw the beginnings of this thread in the IBS diet board but figured that I should stay out as it was a very 'ladies only' type thread. However, this one seems a little more male friendly and, well, it is women's underwear we're talking about so I'm going to comment ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
"I cut down trees, wear high heals, suspenders and a bra. I want to be a girlie man just like my dear Papa!" (kidding )
But seriously, some girls I know absolutely love thongs and others can't stand them. One ex girlfriend, when I was dating her, hated the idea of wearing a thong, but now she loves them and swears by them (and of course this is well after we've stopped dating).
Now for my personal opinion. Thongs are good. Wearing really low cut pants and having the top of your thong stick out looks silly. But, there are lots of types of sexy underwear (or no underwear at all as discussed in the other thread) and just because one doesn't like thongs, doesn't mean they can't have sexy underwear. Although personally, I don't find the tiny G string thongs attractive, the other less skimpy type though, are quite attractive.
The big thing for most guys (me at least) is when a woman has enough trust and confidence in me to dress up in something sexy knowing that I'll like it, and in turn she'll have a pleasant evening as well. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Haha, Jenny, you'd love my school - the dress code is the most strict you can possibly get without switching to uniforms!! Here it is:
1) No words on shirts, and shirts must cover the back and abdomen at all times including when you're sitting and raising your arms over your head. No low-cut shirts even if you wear a camisole underneath, and if you wear a button-down shirt it must be buttoned all the way up. Your sleeves have to be at least four inches in length from the shoulder.
2) Shorts have to come down to you mid-thighs or lower, and shorts and capirs can only be worn in August, September, May, and June.
3) No flip, flops, athletics slides, or backless shoes. Only tennis shoes and leather sandals are allowed.
4) No skirts shorter than knee-length and they can't drag on the floor.
5) Guys must wear an undershirt under every shirt, and their pants must be worn at the waist and with a belt.
6) No colored/dyed hair (even just blonde highlights or something) on anybody
7) No dangle earrings or hoops. Only studs, and no big rings or thick necklaces. Only one piercing is allowed in each ear and nowhere else.
8) You can't wear excessive makeup or any perfume at all.
9) Jeans have to be hemmed and can't touch the floor.
If you break these rules, you're sent home for the rest of the day and you get F's on everything you miss - it's like a suspension!! The joy of private schooling

I went to an all boys private school for highschool and had to wear the blazor, tie and dress pants everyday. I actually quite liked it as I didn't worry about what I was going to wear everyday.
But, a few years ago I did some substitute teaching at the public highschool up here, I was shocked! I couldn't believe what some of the girls would wear to school!

Oh neither! Most of the these days I'm a hard core PhD pursuing theatre history geek... I specialize in 18th century American Feminist Playwrights. But when I'm making new theatre I'm either a playwright or a director.

I can't stand the things. I'm all about comfort and who cares if I have a panty line. The teens worry about having a panty line don't even know what a slip is. Can't have the panties showing through pants but can wear a skirt or dress that you can see through with no slip. I work at the high school so I see this all the time.
Many say you get used to them but honestly I don't want to get used to them. Thongs are just uncomfortable and drive me crazy. I agree that it must be an age thing.

No one wants to see that. It's like wearing a black bra under a muslin blouse. No thanks!
I know I'm "out of it," having retired and no longer wearing dresses, but whatever happened to panty hose with the built-in panties? They were perfect -- no panty lines! Don't you gals wear panty hose anymore?
I just fail to see how a piece of dental floss stuck in your butt can (a) be comfortable, and (b) provide any kind of, uh, "protection." ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif)
And I'm appalled to read this thread and discover what kids are wearing to school. OMG! In my day, there was no such thing as jeans in schools; it was slacks for the boys and poodle skirts for the girls. Everyone wore saddles shoes. I remember one time my boyfriend wore slacks but forgot his belt. He was called into the Principal's office, who sent him home to get it!
Okay, now I'm sounding like my grandma. I hate it when I do that.

Eeech...just thinking about contact in my "nether region" with that middle seam is jeans hurts! I wear the built in panti-hose and that's the end of panytlines for me.
Although the other day, my friend said "you shouldn't wear a thong with that suit"...it scared me a little cuz I couldn't figure out what she "saw" since I don't do thongs, I had my proper pantyhose on. Then I was thinking...why was she looking at my hiney?
Hmmmm....

Bev,
That is exactly what I tell my hubby when he asks why I don't wear thongs. With IBS D protection is the most important thing, besides finding a bathroom in time. What if you were wearing a thong and couldn't find a bathroom, yikes!

The ACLU would have a field day. I wonder if they know about your school!
How do you feel about it? Are you okay with all the rules? At least they're just as strict with the boys as with the girls. At my high school, the dress code was HORRIBLY sexist.

Thongs, that is. But then again, I am twenty. I got so used to them, they are more comfortable than "butt" underwear as I call them. They always bunch up and give ya wedgies! I like how thongs stay in the same spot. I will war "butt" underwear around my apartment, though. that's it. Last night I wore them under jeans to run out to my bf's house for alittle bit, it was the first time in YEARS! Feels like I have too much on and too bulky.

I'm with Casey on this one. I will put one on only if I know it will be back off within the next few minutes!!!
I don't wear them because they are sooooo uncomfortable. I have no desire to get used to them, and there are other types of panties (like with microfiber) that don't give panty lines.
