Thanks for all the encouraging posts. You guys are fabulous!
The meeting between Adam & my family went REALLY well. I admit that I didn't think it was going to go terribly or anything, but I was still nervous about it, of course. Mom seems to really like him. She even hugged him! I about died! (You'd have to know my mom, heh.) I mean, it really wouldn't have mattered if she didn't like him, but it definitely makes my life easier and a lot less stressful if everyone I love at least gets along with each other, heh.
The rest of the visit was not-so-good news...
I ate really carefully, and I still got sick. In addition to being miserable in a campground bathroom, I then had to sit through a bouncy 1 1/2-hour pickup truck ride home. I must have had every muscle in my body clenched the entire ride home, because by the time we got back to Bangor, my entire body felt like someone beat me with a baseball bat.
One good-ish thing did come of it, though, I guess. See, my family knows I have "stomach problems", but because I've lived away from home for the worst of it, they've never seen me sick... until last night. My mother was genuinely alarmed to see me so thin, and even more so when I had the attack. Before we left, she took me aside and told me that she wants me to get medical care for this no matter what, and she's willing to help pay for it! It's a load off my mind, but I still have to wait till the 8th for my assessment/appointment.
I still feel lousy today... still achy, still D, weak as water. It's a dreary day and I think I'm going to spend it in bed.
Thanks for letting me ramble, and thanks to everyone who sent along good thoughts for yesterday... I still think they worked!
Oh yeah... and just for fun (I love posting unflattering pictures, haha), here's me cooking my IBS-friendly chicken breast (and a portobello for my mom) over the campfire. Don't mind the face I'm making; the smoke followed me no matter where I sat.

Casey, congrats on a successful time with your mom!! That's great. Geez, I miss camping. Your picture took me right back. It's so much fun, campfire smoke and all.
Sorry to hear you got sick but GLAD to hear your mom insists on you focusing on your health and helping out with the medical expenses. That's fabulous!!

I miss camping too - I think it's been 2 or 3 years since I've camped. I don't even think I realized how much I missed it till I was sitting at that campfire, even with the crappy weather. I think Adam and I are going to pick a weekend and just do it, as soon as possible. We live so close to so many campgrounds, there's no excuse not to!

Casey - although it sucks you had an attack, it is wonderful that your mom really liked Adam and that she is going to help you with the medical stuff - at least that will take off at least a little stress! BTW, I love the pic you are such a cutie p.s - you don't look 29 you look younger! this is a compliment so don't take it the wrong way!

Thank you. I'm totally taking it as a compliment, don't worry. I actually get mistaken for a college student all the time... over the holidays, when I was working in the mall, someone asked me what grade I was in! Haha.

That's a great picture. I wish that I looked that good when I am cooking while camping! I love camping too! We just bought a camper last year and we go almost every weekend. My husband and son are big into fishing so we go camping wherever there is a big lake.
Glad that your Mom was concerned and is willing to help you pay for the medical attention. I am sure that is a big relief. Maybe there was a good reason that you had that attack (I know that sounds awful, but I hope that you know what I mean). Sometimes I think people look at me and think that I don't seem sick at all. I think that we all try to stay positive and not try to bother everyone with what is going on.
If you do start camping much, just remember to get a site close to the toilets!
Glad that your Mom and boyfriend meeting again went well. Hope that you are feeling better and recovering from the trip.

OMG, Casey, I LOVE THIS PIC! Camping in Maine! Oh, what could be better than that?! You need to crop this picture and post it in your home page; this is by far my fave!
Damn you're cute!
And your mom is cute too. I like her very much. How wonderful it must be to have a neat mom like yours. I can imagine that is a relief to you, to know that she's there for you and wanting to help you, financially or otherwise.
Spending the day in bed is an excellent idea. That's what I did yesterday because I had the same symptoms as you -- and today I'm much better. You get better too, okay? Don't forget the Ginger Aid tea and trashy novel.

That's kind of what I was thinking this morning, when I woke up still feeling like crap, but not quite as bad as last night (so I was able to have a little perspective on the situation, heh). I know my family believes me when I say I'm sick, but seeing it is something else entirely. I do tend to sugar-coat it. I don't want people to worry, but sometimes I guess it's warranted.
Believe me, I don't look that good while camping either! LOL!! I was just visiting them at the campsite for the day. That's great that you guys got a camper! What kind? We eventually want to get a small camper, but for now we do the tent thing.
Oh, and thanks. I'm recovering, but today's definitely a day of nothing.
