...do I do this to myself? I'm at work feeling crappy and bloated, having had to run to the loo and its all my own fault. I was feeling wiped out this morning (not enough sleep) so I had a cup of black caffeinated tea. And I went out to get lunch a little while ago (I didn't make my own cos I overslept this morning) and felt I needed some salt, so I got a tuna mayo roll without butter and a packet of CRISPS! (chips???). Sometimes I'm okay with a couple, but I ate the WHOLE packet. Doh! I am so stupid. And I'm also stupid enough to have come to work without any painkillers or chamomile tea.
I now have 3-4 hours left of work (I'm running behind) feeling like the michelin man on laxatives!

Because you're human.
Sometimes I think we do things like that not out of stupidity but because there are so few other options for us IBS-ers. Sometimes I play games with the TV commercials. MacDonald's comes on, and they show a Big Mac. I say, "I can't have that!" Then Subs comes on, and they show a submarine sandwich with cheese and bacon. I say, "I can't have that!" Then Dairy Queen -- need I say more?
It's frustrating when there's nothing we can eat! It's also a little maddening.....
Linzy, I hope you feel better soon. You need to go out in the garden and play with worms.

Hi Bev,
I know the feeling of watching all that great food on TV commercials and we can't eat it. I just want to go to the TV and grab that food and stuff it in my mouth! Although, believe it or not, I can eat a Sonic breaded chicken sandwich and it has not bothered me so far... WOO HOO!!! Are you still feeling good this morning?
Have a great day Barbie

Yep, I'm feeling GOOOOD. Thanks for asking!
I took a tablespoon of Acacia in my tea, but ONLY a tablespoon. So far, no gas, no bloating. Only two poops. Life is sweet.
Sonic breaded chicken samwich? Where'd you find those? What's in it besides chicken? What makes it "sonic"?
It's frustrating, ain't it, watching all those yummy treats on TV? It's no wonder so many millions of people in this country are overweight! Maybe the IBS is a blessing in disguise?
NOT!

'cause it tastes good! And I think it is sometimes easy to forget for a minute how sick the sick feels until it hits again. Don't beat yourself up about cheating, we all do it... and usually pay for it later! For some reason, it just doesn't seem to stop us a lot of the time. Anyway, it's almost 9 PM in England now so I wonder if you are home from work now... or do you work nights? Can't remember... Anyway, I hope that you are at home and feeling better OR that you are still at work, but not feeling too poorly. --Steph

Aw Linz, I don't know why we do it, but I can certainly sympathize with being stuck at work feeling lousy Are you able to leave if you have to? Hang in there and then have a "pamper yourself" night when you get home. Take care, Kelly

Hey Bev,
Hope you are still feeling Sonic is a drive thru place here in Houston. The breaded chicken is not greasy and it comes with lettuce & tomato & mayo. I don't know why, but they do agree with me. I don't know about you but when I find something that agrees with me, I stick with it, although, I find myself eating the same stuff all the time. Scaredy cat to try anything new.
Have a great day, Barbie

Actually, I had an attack at midnite. Terrible cramps and D for 3 hours, then slept with the heating pad on my tummy 'till just a few minutes ago.
This time I can't blame it on the Acacia. I had only 1T in the morning. I think it must have been the Bing cherries. I love those so much -- and they had them for sale at Safeway. I couldn't resist. I had my soluble fiber beforehand, and I limited my portion to only 24 cherries. Still, I guess it was too much, and the inevitable attack occurred at midnite.
Better this morning, but all I can get down me is some GingerAid tea. No Acacia. Just tea.
I don't blame you for being a scaredy-cat. You're smart! Absolutely if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you find something that works, stick with it. I'm just so sick and tired of potato rolls and grilled salmon, I could SCREAM!
Oh yeah, I fixed roasted potatoes last night with raw Bermuda onion. Funny how I "accidentally" forgot about them there raw onions......

Linz,
I hope you are feeling better. I do this to myself every now and then too. I never think about it when I am eating things I shouldn't only after I start feeling terrible. Then I beat myself up about not having any will power to resist the "bad" food.
Don't be too hard on yourself and feel better.
