I make sure I have at least 2 Imodium chewables in my jeans pocket so that I have it with me when I go to the restroom just in case I need it. Then nobody has to know that I used it. I keep track on a pocket calendar how often I have to use it, too. I'll right on the date number of Imodium I took on that day with a capital "I" next to the number. Then I can look back and know how long it has been since the last day I had to use Imodium. Recently it has been quite often, but the longest I went was a month and a half! I don't leave home without it. I know that the maximum dose is 4 per day so I make sure I have 2 in my pocket and 2 in my purse. Just a little insight of the "Day in the Life of an IBS'er".

Read the reply I just posted to Nugget entitled "Nugget, Nugget, Nugget."

You also might want to talk with Mags. The program didn't help her much the first time around, and she's doing it a second time. Also, you might want to go into the hypnotherapy board and read Marilyn's story. She did it a third time.

I'm almost ready to begin Michael's other program that's for people who have gone through the IBS program. It's entitled "Towards Inner Peace." I had to wait for 3 months after finishing the Audio 100, and my 3 months are just about up. I can't wait.

I don't have kids, but sometimes I feel like I'm an inconvenience when we are out shopping and I have to find a bathroom....right now! My husband is good about it, but I feel bad when I have to interrupt our shopping trip to find a bathroom or end our shopping trip short to go home. I'm tired of always saying "I don't feel like going out". Most of the time I just act like I feel like going out and pay for it later. I just want to feel normal again.

I'm sitting here at work reading your post (which I shouldn't be on the internet at work....but oh, well) holding back tears because it's so comforting "talking" with someone who REALLY understands. {{{{{hugs}}}}} Sometimes, loved ones around me say they understand, but they really don't. It makes me feel so alone. Nobody will truly understand until they go through this @#$!.

Boy do I know what you mean. I have 3 kids, 24, 18 and 14 and they are all pretty used to me having to find a bathroom NOW. My husband is great and doesn't push when I don't feel good but I am like you and hate to always say I don't want to go or I don't feel good so I end up going anyway.

We live in Spain and walk to many resturants around by our house. I have gotten so I only want to go to the ones that are a quick walk home in case I have to. My family is used to me leaving them and running home. The rest. here are the worst because most are small and only have one bathroom and it is usually right in the same area as the dinning area. That means if you get up and go several times or if you stay in there a long time everyone sees or there is a line waiting when you come out.

We are in a place where we could travel around Europe and I don't like to travel at all. I get very panicky when someone brings up driving a long distance.

That is a good idea with the Imodium. I have never thought of keeping track of when I take them. Actually, since I started this new diet I haven't had to use them as often as I used to but I always keep them in my purse.

Bev,

I just read the post to Nugget and you have me convinced. I so rarely spend any money on myself and this is something that will benefit my whole family. I am going to order the tapes tonight and will have an open mind that this will work for me. Half the time my biggest problem is going places and worrying myself into having to go to the bathroom. I feel sad for all the things I have missed out on. But I won't dwell on that, I will just move forward from here in a positive way.

Thanks for always being so uplifting and positive with you advice. I have only been on here a short time but I do appreciate you.

Janey

That sounds like a great idea. Let's do it!!! I feel very positive that this will work for us and just think how much better life will be.

It's 9pm here now so I am going to order before I go to bed.

sorry to butt in here, but i'm glad to hear you're thinking about starting the hypnotherapy program.

i'm really pleased with it. it only takes between 25 minutes and 35 minutes a day. that's not too much. i felt calmer immediately--- after the first session. i got sick and stopped listening so i started again and am so excited- tomorrow i start session 2. session one basically focuses on getting you calm and relaxed and sort of primes the mind to accept hypnosis. i think it's working! i know that i am letting things roll of my back much more easily now (which is out of character for me!). even if that's all it did, i'd think it was worth the money! i have a lot of faith that the rest of the sessions will have great impact!

i want to tell you, Michael's aim with these tapes is to have you walk away from IBS at the end of the session. sounds like that is often the result for people. wouldn't that be nice!? no fear about looking for a bathroom when you go out? he says it's possible. no worries about getting in the car for a long drive. he says it's possible. not be ever focused on what you're putting in your mouth. he says it's possible! can you believe it!? i think it's worth the money just to find out....

(PS: can't wait to be finished and try the other program Bev mentioned. it helps you address other things in your life-- hoping it does. can't wait!)

good luck, ladies!
