My friend is in England "for university," and she is dating the greatest guy. But I was teasing him about his accent and Englishisms (fair game! he teased me first!), and when I said something about bangers and mash, he got really ticked and told me "Never say 'bangers and mash' again!" Sore spot, I suppose. So naturally, I say it all the time when he visits!

Hey! You'd laugh at my HTB...he takes the piss out of my accent and stuff I say all the time and he's English too! God, you'd really have a ball talking to me!

Now....does everyone understand that?

Yeah, that stuff about lashings sounds like a foreign language to me... but I'm learning! Lol. I dated an Aussie a few years ago and I used to love the funny things he said too! It's sad, though, I've forgotten most of them... but I know he called the parking lot the "car park" all the time.

It is a car park, it IS! It's where you park your car! Therefore it's a car park QED

I agree - it is a car park. So if we say "car park" in both England and Aus. we must be right!! Majority rules here

Okay, Carmen, tell me what you guys down there call the kitchen appliance that sits in the drain, chews up the garbage and spits it out?

Uh.....!?! Parking lot? Detailing? My mind is BLANK! Mainly it's just your spellings that get me.

I love "fall". It's so invocative (now is that the right word or am I talking nonsense? ).
