I also find I'm not invited as many places with the IBS as people have noticed that eating is such a problem. My closest friends and relatives understand (well most of them anyway). If not understand, at least still invite me. Hobbies are great. I like to quilt and do it at home as well as in classes. Never a problem by bringing along some of my safe snacks. I even teach some classes and have met lots of nice people that way. One thing that still makes me uncomfortable is being invited out to dinner or to someones house because I know that subject of my eating problems has to surface again. I'm still not dealing with that very well, get actually angry inside but am working on it.

The answer is to invite all your friends round to you and cook them a fabulous IBS-safe meal! I can't wait till my HTB and I get our first house (by Easter I hope) as then I can have dinner parties.

When I was just a vegetarian, I used to get so fed up with people feeding me Cheese Omelettes and boring stuff because they had no imagination. They just need to know that a restrictive diet isn't bad and you can eat wonderful food on it.

Also, if you go round to friends, you could offer to bring a course with you so that at least you'll have somthing nice and safe to eat. Chocolate brownies for pudding anyone?! No-one can say no to them in my house!

Pudding = dessert? Is that right? Brits refer to dessert as pudding? Okay, so picture, if you will, sitting at the table and it's time for dessert, and you're just about to be served their infamous "Steak & Kidney Pudding."

So lemme get this straight... at dinners with the Queen, you speak properly and politely during your meal and save your natter for after pudding!?

So, Linz, whatcha say? Is that what you do when you're having dinner with the Queen? And nattering? While eating your bubbles and squeak? Before having to go to the loo? Before leaving for home and driving on the wrong side of the street?

Ooops ! Didn't even realise that was different! "Dessert" is also used in this country, "pudding" is more relaxed I guess. This is so complicated!!!!

Btw, I can never remeber what "Bubble-and-squeak" is! But bangers-and-mash is yummy (sausages and mashed potato for the uninitiated!) - especially with lashings and lashings of ketchup. Now THAT'S an English-ism...from the children's writer Enid Blyton...as in "tea [the meal not the drink] with lashings and lashings of ginger beer". Aaah...happy days!

I bet y'all well confused now aren't you!
