I am so thankful to have found the helpforibs website. I have had problems for 4 years. I have been to countless doctors and had test after test. I was diagnosed with IBS in 2009. I used artificial sweeteners regularly until I read to avoid them on the website. I would like to know if any of the new artificial sweeteners can be used for people with IBS? Sweeteners like Stevia, Truvia or Sun Crystals. I drink ice tea quite a bit and do not want to gain weight because I can no longer use artificial sweeteners.

Hi Dawn and welcome. If you post this on the Eating for IBS board, you will get a response. The Living Room is for non-IBS issues.

Welcome to the board,

Hopefully you drink de-caf green tea because regular tea contains caffeine which is a known IBS trigger.

Pure stevia with no additives such as FOS or inulin should fine. Sun crystals contain stevia and sugar so it should be fine.

Truvia contains sugar alcohol as a sweetener. It is best to avoid this sweetener.

As Gerikat said, questions about food are best asked on the diet board.
