My husband and I are trying to get pregnant, and I do plan to get the vaccine when it becomes available to the public here. I personally do not believe that this vaccine is any different than any other seasonal flu vaccine, which I always receive without side effects. I believe any side effects that may occur from the shot are better than risking your baby's life and your own, since pregnant women are dying at a much higher rate than the general population.
That being said, I would NOT receive the nasal spray with the live vaccine, pregnant or not.

I won't put my personal feelings about this on here, but I will say that it is a hotly debated topic, even among friends/family. I have seen people almost bring their fists up, if you don't agree with them, whether pro or con. Scary, for sure.

I think it depends on your own personal health. I will not nor have ever gotten any of the shots. I do not have a compromised immune system,do not get sick often and do not work with alot of people. For me the risks involved, whatever they may be, do not weigh out the benefits. I won't let my kids have any shots either including the Hep shots and my daughter will NEVER have the shot they are giving girls in grade 7/8(I can't remember the name sorry)
It is a huge debate but if you work in a hospital or in a field where you come into contact with a large amount of people then it may be a good idea. Then again, good ole fashion washing your hands and sneezing into your sleeve works too.
Good luck with your decision Shiela.

This is a difficult question for me since I have had an autoimmune response resulting in paralysis to an aggressive virus before. I usually avoid immune stimulation, but since there is a potential risk of getting severely ill from this and since I got sick from a virus and not a vaccine I will do it. The only question is when. I'm waiting for my first appointment at the specialist mother care and will talk to them before I get it. I would preferably like to wait a few more weeks till I've passed the most critical stages of pregnancy, but at the same time, the big flu peak is expected any week now, so I'm not sure how long I dare to wait.
/Ulrika, currently at week 7+2
