So, the prep work has officially started today!! I'm taking a little break right this minute! Between 4 loads of clothes, I've managed to get 5 boxes packed..... it's hard to figure out WHAT to pack NOW, since the www.kitchenplus.com does not start the job until Monday, 13th. But, I wanted to get as much of it done as possible today so I can still go to the gym after work at least the first half of the week and not be stressed about packing.
Shane is sick...so he is having Niquil (sp?) cold medicine dreams on the sofa right now. Lucky for me... I've only got one set of stairs to carry the boxes down... I'm stacking them in the workout room, lifted the treadmill up. Shane will just have to go to the gym instead of home to run the next couple of weeks once he feels better.
My sister and her "man" are coming over on Sat, 11th to help Shane disconnect the dishwasher and over the range microwave. He does that kind of stuff all the time and is strong too. Since Shane has a bad arm (Elbow) it's nice to have the extra help.
Then www.albertleeappliance.com will deliver but not install the new stainless and take away the old appliances on Sun, 12th. They will set up the new stainless fridge in the dinning room for us so we at least have that. I took my old microwave to the office when we bought this place because of the over the hood micro that was already here...so I just might have to ask if it's cool if I bring it back home until the project it done so we can at least reheat stuff!
8:30am on Mon, 13th www.kitchenplus.com will arrive... I'll meet with the Project Manager and then will go into work a little late. They will be re-facing our cabinets, installing our new kitchen sink, faucet, and disposal. They will also install new granite countertops, hardwood floors, and also hook up our new stainless appliances. There is a chance they will be done with the whole project by Thur, 23rd (crossing fingers) but it could go as long as Tues, 28th. I'm really hoping it's the 23rd because we have family coming into town that was planned before we were given the project dates....THINKING the job would not start until the first week in Dec. But don't get me wrong.... I'm so excited it will be done before the holidays!! Finally it will be PARTY TIME!!
Cross your fingers everyone and give positive vibes that this project goes smoothes and finishes in a timely fashion!
Back to the boxes.....uuugggg.........

Hey glad to see you are so optimistic!I don't want to rain on your parade but....my husband was a contractor for many years and I highly doubt your project will be finished in that time line.Unless they are planning on sending in a whole crew EVERYDAY chances are slim.I really hope it does get done for you but try not to be too upset when or if it isn't.
Other than that!!Can't wait to see the new pics. Oh and make sure your contractor IS there everyday working on it because sometimes you have to be right on top of it or they will let it drag on and on.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advise! This company and the guy I'm working with (Josh) come very highly recommended by one of my girlfriends who is a designer so far...... it has been a very painless process....and I'm hoping to keep it that way. I just got a voice mail from Josh too...."just checking in to see if you have any questions"....

I can't wait to see the final product!! My in-laws are getting ready to redo their 1970's kitchen finally!!! My MIL has wanted to so bad and finally my FIL let go of the purse strings a bit. It will be a complete overhall. We are so excited that they will finally have a dishwasher! Now my SIL and I won't have to do all the dishes on Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!

Oh, they are going to love it!! DISHWASHERS are wonderful!! I went almost 10 years without one..... Shane would joke and say, "I have one, it's called Shell" little turd!! So, the DAY we closed on this place (almost 3 weeks before we moved in) I went back to our appartment and filled up a tote with DIRTY dishes and drove over to the new place and filled the dishwasher!! LOL Those dishes never went back to the old place! Then the same thing with laundry that weekend.... NO MORE laundromat...well, except the weekend of the 17th when the kitchen will still not be done yet.... the floors in my laundry pantry are getting done too.... so the W/D will be removed and re-installed at the end again.
Anyway.... congrats to your folks and to no more holiday dish pan hands!!
