I did it! After much contemplation, an agonizing decision was made. I cut my beautiful hair!! (well, Leanne, my hairdresser actually but you understand!)
Here's the pics!

Let me know what you think! I'm still working on styling it - I'll have to post updated pics soon - and I'm getting highlights eventually too!
And I donated the pieces to a wig maker in Manitoba for cancer etc. patients.

It's beautiful. I love it. That was such a generous thing for you to do. Remember, it grows back so if you don't like it, it comes back. I've been lucky...my hair grows fast so I like to cut it and change my mind and let it grow. Then I get sick of it and cut it again! Regardless, you did an amazing thing. Someone will be so fortunate to have that beautiful hair!

It looks great! Don't worry; you'll get used to it.
My hair used to be about as long as yours was, too. When I had 16 inches cut off a couple years ago, it did take a bit to get used to it, but oh, it was so nice to have it short !

It looks great! What a wonderful thing for you to do!
It must feel funny not having all that hair to flick over your shoulders anymore!

It's almost surreal still!! I keep trying to pull my hair out from under my jacket or sweater and it's not there!! I look in the mirror and go - hey, who's that!
Now that I've styled it my own way I'm starting to like it more. It's just a little short to put in a ponytail without having to use barrettes to hold the front.

yikes i thought maybe you went halle berry short.. haha.. it looks really good.. it looks much better than my incident.. my hair was just a bit shorter than yours was, i went to a hair show and they chopped it up to my chin in one place and my bangs to the point where it was damn near shaved off and then came down on each side like a half circle.. looked great once it grew out but at first... boo.. not happy.. i missed my long hair..
Do you find that you keep going to brush it or wash it and it's not there?

I did the same thing a few months ago. I grew my hair out for our wedding and it was beautiful for that...but too much work otherwise. I have crazy thick wavy hair. I donated mine to Pantene's new program. It's called beautiful lengths and it goes directly to the American Cancer Society. I had 2 full ponytails for them! So here is a before and after:

and now what it looks like today!

Forgot to say yours looks wonderful! It's such a great cut on you:) I know how hard it was to do, but giving it away made me feel like it was really worthwhile.

Unfortunately I couldn't cut my hair that short. If I go to my shoulders it gets this weird, funky wave at the ends. It looks awful! I'd have to seriously style it every day with a straightener or something, and that is just waaaaay too much maintenance for this wash-n-go girl.

I love your new do!! I love the colour of your hair too - my sis-in-law has much the same colour. It's a big step cutting it all off! I read about the Pantene program too, but they want virgin hair 12" long for the Canadian program. I sent mine to a lady in Manitoba who sorts it and sends it where she sees it will be used best.

I used to be a wash, dry and go girl - now I feel a little tied to my hot air iron! And I have to use some mousse to tame my hair a bit. Of course, my hair flips out and the cut is supposed to flip the ends in. I can't manage a brush and the hairdryer at the same time so I put the hairdryer on the dresser pointed at me and then use both hands to curl my hair around my brush - frustrating! And I shower at night so in the morning I have to use the hot air iron to smooth it all out again! I'd shower in the morning and save a step but I refuse to go to bed straight after I leave the pool a couple nights a week and reek of chlorine until morning. So double the work on this new do! But I'm starting to get used to it and to like it more and more. Once it grows a little and I can tie it back I'll be "stylin"! And the compliments I've been getting feel great - I had one of the lawyers at work stop dead in his tracks on Monday! It was awesome!

You are braver than I am!! My hair is your former length... it grows so slowly (as do my fingernails), any cut is a long-term investment for me!
The new 'do suits you! Very pretty!
