Is there anything I can do to keep me calm while flying? I dread dread dread it every year (because of the ibs). Just booked my flights to see the family at Christmas. I got all aisle seats near the bathroom, but geez, I just get so worked up about it. I do it to myself. Part of me thinks I should call my doctor and see if I can get a valium or something. Would that even work? Would she give it to me? Please give me advice here.

I have a co-worker who takes valium when she flies. I take lorazepam. I think most doctors understand airplane anxiety and are okay with prescribing something just for the flight. I think if you had more time, the hypnotherapy would work great, especially since your anxiety is IBS related.
Best wishes!

Thanks. Maybe it's worth a try (drugs like that wouldn't induce attacks, would they?) I made the decision earlier tonight to get those hypnotherapy CDs. This is too hard.

Oh no, I've never had an attack when I take them. Actually, they've had the opposite effect for me -- stopping the attack and spasms. Must be their tranquilizing effects.
Good luck with the hypnotherapy! Dealing with anxiety is hard.

I can so relate to your flying anxiety. But just like maria my doc gave me Lorezpam generic for Ativan for when I am stressed about traveling, work issues ect.. I just take a half some night when IBS cramps kill me. It takes the edge off. Ask your doc, mine is the one whom suggested it. Good luck think postitive
