Here are some pics. At the hospital minutes afterward.
Instead of cigars, my husband brewed some special beer!
First day at home.

Not sure why this 3rd pic didn't show up but you can hit the link.
Personally, DH and I don't think the pics do her justice but ya know...that's what newborns are like.
Thanks everyone for your support. This time around was much better/easier! Phew!
Hugs.

Thanks, Christine! Yeah...that hair! I had two bald babies before her so it's so different. It's so soft, I can't keep my hands out of it!

Mia is SOO great. If I could have all babies like her, I'd have 8 kids, I swear. She is doing an army crawl now, she gets around REALLY well that way, it's only a matter of days before we'll need to put up the gate. She's so entertaining, to me and to herself, she laughs, "talks", loves being outside, and is trying out new foods. I'm loving it. And I'm definitely excited to have another baby. We're going to wait until she turns 1 and then go for it!! Here are a few recent pictures from Memorial Day weekend.

Serena is a pretty contented baby but I'm having issues with nursing. I had no problems with Tanner but I did with Logan. I saw a lactation consultant today. Hopefully, I'll get past this point soon. Right now though...the pain is toe-curling.

When I started nursing, I was shocked at how much it hurt---no one told me that part!!! Seriously I nearly gave up every day, because it hurt so bad, and no amount of nipple cream, shields, ice packs helped. By 4 weeks, it stopped hurting, sort of suddenly, and now I sometimes barely can feel it she's latched on or not. So good luck!! That's hard, huh? And I love your daughter's name!

We finally got a pump yesterday. I'm pumping on one side and nursing on the other. The pumping definitely hurts less but now the other is really getting to that point. I don't know if I can make it much longer. It makes me so sad because I had an easy time with Tanner.

So far so good. BTW, I just found out that I'm going to be able to teach part-time in the fall so I'm reaaaalllly happy about that. We didn't know if it was a for sure thing. I'm hoping that'll keep some of the stress down. Phew!

I remember that all so well! It hurt so bad sometimes I'd curl my toes. Hang in there. Like Angela said don't beat yourself up if you can't do it. I lasted only 6 weeks with the firt(breast infection stopped me, talk about toe curling YIKES!)then the second one I lasted 9 weeks. Both are very healthy kids today. Never had a single ear infection with either of them. The nutrients come out in the first two weeks anyway! Lots of luck to ya!!!

Thanks. Right now I'm alternating between nursing, pumping and formula. That's giving me enough of a rest in between that I'm not quite as sore as I was. Latch on is still a killer but not nearly as bad.

Hey Jenny! How are ya? Been busy I'm sure with Ollie. How are things going? I couldn't imagine nursing 13 months. Even if I was able to stay home that long for maternity leave I'm not sure if I could make it that long! I give you credit if you do it that long that's for sure!!!!! Both of my boys nursed for at least 9 weeks. #1 because I had to return to work and #2 because they said the first few weeks are important nutrients for them. I never knew that nursing somehow gave us mommies some benefit . Very interesting! Also I just could never get enough milk to pump. It was very strange and frustrating. Oh well too late for me to be able to prevent arthritis and cancer cause this body is not pushing out any more babies!!!!

Ollie is a doll! I love the hat! Re: nursing...there's no way I can make it for a year. I'm already supplementing a bit. Serena's a chowhound...just like Logan was. The girl has jaws of steel. Maybe it was just that she started out so big. I love nursing her (when I'm not in pain--it's getting better)but it's tough...I feel tethered to the house.

OMG you can just eat him up!!!! He's so adorable!!! You'll love having a boy too. Especially when they get a little older. They tend to get over things much easier and "most" boys don't whine as much as a girl (sorry you mommies out there that have girls!!!)HOWEVER, having a girl has the advantage of dressing her in cute outfits!!!!
You worked before you had Ollie didn't you? If you did, are you planning to go back to work or can you work from home? I'm assuming if you are going to nurse for over a year that you must be able to stay home. BTW, I did rent a hospital grade pumping machine and that also didn't work for me. I'm telling ya I was like a 38D after I gave birth. You'd think those babies would have been filled with milk. I still have no idea what the heck they were filled with cause it never came out when I pumped
I'm doing well. Thanks for asking I've put a few lbs on from the Elavil that I"ve been taking. Been run ragged with my son & travel baseball. Only 4 more tournaments!!!! Ugghhhh...It's fun though.Just takes up 1/2 of the summer but he loves it. The only thing that sucks is that some bathroom facilities aren't the greatest and some(like tonight)weren't even open! They had yucky portapotties. Thank goodness I'm having a good IBS night and didn't need to use one Tomorrow morning's game at 8am might be a different story. I'm usually better with my IBS at night so let's hope for the best!!
Enjoy that gorgeous baby. He'll grow up before you know it.
P.S. You look GREAT too! I quickly scanned through some other pics of you and Ollie. Don't worry...your boobs will come back. They may be a little saggy but nothing a bra can't help

How long were you on the Elavil? I've been on it for about 3 months and have gained about 4-5 pounds. Believe me, I can afford to gain a total of 15 or so to be at a good weight for me. I was down to like 82lbs three months ago so if I do gain some weight I will be happy!
Oh you'll be a good mom too if Ollie wants to play a sport. Don't worry, there are a lot of moms that read novels It sometimes gets crazy but you manage somehow. Working till 5 each day when your child has to be at a game or practice by 5, THAT stinks but we somehow do it. Believe it or not the thing I hate most is that I can't cook real dinners during baseball season. I make a lot of salads(taco, chicken)put meatballs in the crock pot and quick meals but it's still tough. You do it for your kids. Actually when we are done baseball (which is in October because of "Fall Ball" )my husband just walks around the house like a lost puppy. You arrange your life to be a certain way for months and then all of the sudden it's back to normal and he doesn't know what to do with himself. Oh and then basketball starts in November until February! That we just started doing last year. It's a fun time for the boys though. It's not real competetive. It's just basically learning the sport and getting exercise in our winter months since it gets cold here
That is so nice you and hubby can work from home. I have the ability to do it and I do it when I get behind in my job but I don't have the option of doing it full time from home. It does make it nice though when either of my kids are sick. I can bring work home and do it from home.
Don't worry. You'll lose the weight. It seems to take a bit longer with the first one. I remember doing 75 sit ups every night after I had my first one. It eventually came off and I got my tummy back but ya know even being skinny, certain ways that I sit, I have some little bulges at the waist when I sit Don't ever get a tummy tuck either!!! Have you ever watched those channels where the women get liposuction and boob jobs? OMG they look like they are in so much pain afterwards!
P.S. Bathrooms were still not open today at the tournament! Can you believe it?!?!? Luckily we lost the first game and we were done by 10:00am. I ate carefully(fruit loops and rice krispies DRY)and tummy cooperated. I'll let you know how next week goes! I'm thinking it won't be so good cause I'm waiting for my period to come and you know it will strike just when I don't want it too!)

I was on the Elavil for a while. Over a year. Maybe a year and a half or so. And I'm glad that it's weight you need to gain! I didn't need to gain it, and it was a pain to lose it.
And yeah, I would miss real dinners too. Though I don't do the cooking, so I guess I would just miss eating them.
I'm glad to hear you say the weight takes a while to lose. I am so impatient with myself and frustrated. And I don't know, I imagine the pain from a tummy tuck would be something like that of a c-section? Same kind of incision I would guess. It would be further down the road though, when I decided that I really don't want any more kids. My stomach got permanently messed up from the pregnancy, lots of loose wrinkly skin that I hear won't go away without surgery. Big fun.
I'm glad that you survived even with the bathrooms locked! Are they even allowed to do that? It seems so unfair. Hmm... periods. That's something I haven't had to think about in a long time. I don't envy you that!

Why did you stop the Elavil? Was it because of the weight gain or did it just stop working for you? I hope I can be on it for a few years. The doctor said I could become resistant probably like any other drug. Perhaps we can "Up" the millegrams or try another one. I'm only taking a total of 20mg a day which he says is a low enough dose to not get the normal side effects. Maybe that's why I'm only gaining a little bit at a time. How many mg's were you taking? Do you remember?
P.S. No fair that you have a hubby that cooks! Do you know how many women would kill for that?!?!?

I stopped the Elavil because I moved. When I got here I picked a doctor that my insurance covered... well he was a mistake. He didn't believe in IBS! He told me that Elavil was a sleeping drug and did nothing for IBS. All I needed to do was eat more fiber. My prescriptions were up, and he wouldn't renew that one or the one for my Nexium (which I HAVE TO HAVE). He was an ass. I abandoned him and found a new doctor and I can't remember why she didn't want me on it. I also don't remember what my amount was, sorry, but I do remember it was supposed to be small enough there weren't side effects (though I do remember the first few days I took it I felt I was floating just outside and to the left of my body, which I would consider a side effect! ). After I went off of it for awhile I joined Weight Watchers and worked hard to lose the weight... it definitely didn't come off just as a result of not taking it anymore (which would be good for you). The weight gain was a gradual thing... and I think a lot of it was because the drug gave me serious sugar cravings. I don't know that I became resistant to it... my biggest problem was constant nausea, and I didn't suffer from that at any point while I was on it. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
And yeah, I guess I am lucky to have a husband that cooks. He likes doing it and I don't... he was raised around his grandma who cooks and nobody in my family ever really did. We both do a pretty good job of ignoring traditional "male" stuff and "female" stuff and just do the chores we're good at and don't mind doing. Honestly, if he left the cooking to me he'd be having Slimfast for every meal, it's food in a can! You only have to shake to serve!
