Hi everyone! Just wanted to say that my ultrasound went REALLY well yesterday. I had no idea how in depth it would be. The techician measured all kinds of stuff in the brain, vessels, bones, etc. She said everything looked good. I was also not prepared for the "internal" ultrasound. She pulled out this wand and put a condom on it and I said "Where is that going???" and she laughed. Then...I had to insert it myself, with my husband standing right next to me. Luckily it was only a few pictures, not bad. Just enough to let me know was cervix was indeed closed and my placenta was in the right place. Just seeing the baby was amazing, and it was moving constantly, the whole time, and the technician could even feel it. I have one active baby!
here is a pic:

That is very exciting! I too just had an ultrasound...but I am only 14 weeks! Amazing how they look like little babies already!
I was wondering how your IBS has been? I am suffering quite a bit lately...and I am at a loss. I relied on Buscopan and Amitryptaline before I got pregnant. Is there hope?

I'm IBS-C, but pretty mild. For weeks 6-10, I felt it got worse. I had been using Benefiber, and before I got pregnant kind of slacked off but with no side effects. Then once I got pregnant it came back full force. So i started up benefiber again, ran out, and didn't refill and lately I've been JUST fine. So weird! But so good!

How exciting! Isn't it wonderful that you can see that little baby before it gets here?

Wow! That's amazing Ginger! Your baby looks like a baby! I'm glad it's healthy and everything's going well. I can't believe you had to put the probe in yourself, that's really weird. Was there a particular reason for that?

She said that it would be easier for to guide it in by "feel" as opposed to her just jamming it in there. Once I got it in, she held it. It was kind of funny really. Not as bad as I expected. I mean, no worse than a regular gyno appointment!

I'm glad everything went well and your baby is very healthy. I can't wait to see what you are having. He/she is very beautiful .
I have to be honest, I am completely shocked they did an internal u/s especially at first with a full bladder. I have never had an internal u/s other than at 6 and 8 weeks and each time they sent me to the bathroom to empty my bladder before they will even do the internal. I also had issues with my placenta with my last pg and they didn't do an internal u/s, they could see it doing a normal one. As a matter of fact we weren't allowed to you know what from 20 weeks on, so I don't think they would have wanted to do an u/s like that. I also can't see why they would need to check if your cervix is closed. Your dr. would have been able to check that with an internal at your first appt. Maybe they had a reason for doing it though. Sorry, I'm just having a hard time understanding that.

Believe it or not between 8 and 10 weeks your baby looks like a baby with all it's arms and legs .

Cool! Thanks! I'm trying not to look ahead too much on the birth books cause then I get disappointed about my poor little dot (who I'm sure is doing it's best). Right now it's sort of a worm with a heart outside it's body. I look forward to it turning baby like in a few weeks.

Well, I did go to the bathroom at the doctor's office right when I got there, at her request. Of course I can pretty much go on command these days! As to the whole cervix thing, not really sure, but I'm sure my doctor will talk about it next appt. Could you not "you know what" because of a specific problem? Because we haven't been told that. At the first appt, when I was still seeing his father, he said no "you know what" in the last month. Although it is kind of uncomfortable these days...

Isn't it amazing how they actually have a "look" already! I swear your baby will come out looking exactly like the US picture! It's amazing!
I remember a few years ago when I had a ovarian cyst I had to have a vaginal US and the tech was a guy! I had no hubby in there with me and the guy was like "here, you can insert it". It was absolutely humiliating! I'm sure they are so used to it but still! Weird isn't it?!?!?!?!?

That's beautiful!! BF just came and looked over my shoulder, and just gazed at it with a smile on his face... And then said "Shall we have 12 babies?"
Bless him...
Oh, and Congratulations!!

I ended up in the hopsital at 20 weeks with my last pregnancy because I had some bleeding. I found out I had a polyp on my cervix and that's the reason. It fell off during delivery. That was really the only time they told us not to. They say it's suppose to help bring on labor at the end so I'm surpised he told you not to the last month.

Precious!
I've had more internal u/s done than I can even count and I've NEVER had them hand me the wand to insert myself! We have the u/s pictures of my twins at 12.5 weeks and you can definitely see baby, you can see arms, legs, hands and even the nose. I had Will put the pictures away as I just can't bring myself to look at them yet however in the future, I hope to make a little memorial book.
