with an infectious disease specialist. I saw him about a year ago. I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 2001 but refused treatment because it was a year of chemotherapy and I had the most resistant strain to treatment. Well, after the first couple of miscarriages and I started working with the RE (reproductive Endocrinologist) she wanted me to be re-tested. Three different blood tests at that time came back NEGATIVE for the disease. This infectious disease specialist said it was very rare for someones body to kill that serious of an infection on its own. He said I was the only one in his practice he has seen it happen to and has read about that happening only a few times in his medical journals. Keep in mind, they not only testing me for the hep C, but they genotyped it and did a viral load as well from several different blood draws at different times, so we KNOW I did have it.
Anyways, after getting the RA diagnoses recently and reading up on it, I really think my immune system is too strong or something. RA happens because the body attacks its own joints, in a nut shell anyways. So, we have my body killing Hep C, which is very rare, attacking its own joints and apparently killing my babies as well. I've GOT to believe its all related somehow. I know the nurse that works for this infectious disease dr and she agreed. So, I made an appt for next Monday to see what his take is on all this. I just can't believe that 5 HEALTHY babies have died for no reason. Maybe this dr will tell me I'm nuts but I figure its at least worth a try!
As a side note, I'm also starting physical therapy for the RA on Monday. I seem to be adjusting to the plaquenil ok but it hasn't helped a lot yet. The rheumy dr said it may take many months before I notice an improvement. I am sleeping better with the Ambein/Zanaflex combination which helps some! I get to have a dialted eye exam from yet a different specialist next week also because the placquenil can cause eye damage so I'll be seeing the eye specialist every 6 months as well! Boy, its a darn good thing I have good insurance!

Linz, I'm not sure about the immunologist, good question for me to ask the dr on Monday!
Do you girls find that your fibro gets worse before/during your period?? I don't know if I'm just pms'ing extra hard because I didn't really have a period last month because it was the first one after my surgery or what but I'm 10times more sore and fibro achey today and I expect AF to show up by the end of the week. I'm also very irratable, even more so than my usual pms, maybe because I hurt so much more today?!

Chronic Hep C is a possible trigger/mimic of fibro, so that may explain your fibro as well, Michelle. I have a journal article at home with a blurb about it. I'll send it your way this evening once I get home.

Thanks! I'm not sure when I actually contracted the Hep C but it was diagnosed on 9-11-2001! I remember I was sitting talking with the dr when the news report came on about the trade center. The fibro problems and pain and all the other crap started around the same time also and has been progressively getting worse.

Well, at least I know I'm not going crazy! I bet the hormone changes after I lost the twins brought this flare up on so bad. I've been taking the Malic supplement you suggested now for about a week, TMI warning, my poo has been a stange yellow color, the same color as the pills? I've also been on an anti-biotic though and having SERIOUS D, about 20 times a day but the anti-biotic pills are bright pink. Have you ever know anyone to be sensative to the malic supplements?

Weird! Actually, thinking about, my poop is often yellowish. Never had any other GI side effects tho.
But then poop often gets yellower if you've got major D...I think it's the bile or something.
