Kenzie gets a dry shampoo every day. It's a white powder that you just sprinkle on him, then comb through. It keeps him clean 'till his next grooming. He has to go to the groomer's every 8 weeks. Sheesh! He gets a haircut more often than I do. It ain't fair.
Thanks; we think he's cute too. He's so funny; he loves to be "skulked", so I crawl on the floor real slow and threaten to steal his toy. He's such a big tease. He guards his little furry octapus underneath him where I can't get to it, then as I reach under him, he gives me a big lick across the nose. He cracks me up!
Dogs are fabulous creatures....

Oh yeah, Ruchie, definitely get a Westie. They're WONDERFUL! They have such a sweet disposition, and especially with children. The younger the child, the better. Kenzie cries whenever a little child goes by because he wants to play with the child, then he licks him all over.
We've talked with a lot of Westie owners, and they all sing praises; I've never heard of a mean Westie.
We had a female, and now we have a male. If you get one, go for the female because they're smaller and (I think) cuter. However, the bottom line is their personality. Kenzie has the personality that I've never seen in other dogs, not even our female Westie. He just cracks us up.
We got him in Southern California from a reputable breeder whose reputation we had heard about before we bought. Beware of puppy farms! The female we had at first came from a puppy farm, and she came down with craneal osteopathy which could have been fatal; we were lucky. Before you buy, do your research!

Thanks Bevers!
How much do they typically cost? Do they HAVE to be groomed every 8 weeks (can you do it at home?)
They sound VERY expensive BUT WONDERFUL!!!
And since we don't have kids (and won't be any time soon....) maybe it would be ok (must talk to hubby
Thanks Bev *hugs*

I want an Abyssinian. They're more or less hypo-allergenic.
(I have big time animal allergies!)

I'm menopausal and 31. I've been menopausal since my early twenties. Ironically, I never wanted kids, but I never really had the option of wanting them either.
I guess, I am trying to say...I'd rather enjoy a pet to spoil rotten and adore more than a kid.
Hmmm...I'm not sure why my brain felt like spitting that out.
Kate.

Hi Kate,
What do you want to ask me that you're afraid is too personal? Go ahead, ask. It's not about the dog, it's about menopause, right? I never had the option of wanting a child either. I knew since I was 13 that I'd never be able to have them. Is that what you want to know?
No, it's not too personal. Everyone on these Boards knows my whole life history. I wasn't able to talk about it until I was 50 years old, believe it or not, but now I'm an open book.
BTW, it's okay not to want kids. My hubby didn't either, so he was a good choice for me. However, my first fiance most definitely DID want children, and after he was killed, I learned from his brother that he was very upset when he learned I could not have children. I never knew. It's very likely, therefore, that, had we married, it would not have worked out for us.
Hubby and I have had a wonderful life together, all 39 years, without children. So you see, it's okay to not want children.
Let your brain spit it out, Girlfriend. Talk to me.

A friend of mine, a long time ago, had a Sphinx... you know, the hairless cats. Except that they aren't really hairless; they're covered with velvety fuzz that never sheds. Elmo was the sweetest cat ever - wonderful disposition, great personality, and just vocal enough. And snuggly! And hypoallergenic!
(Am I convincing you? Tee hee!)
I've always liked the looks of the Abyssinians, too, but I've never known anyone who's had one.
