Lately, during the wee hours of the morning, I just watch the light peek through my black curtains. It really does help. The days are dark and gray.
I think Cost Co. sells those light boxes...maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list. My doctor wants me to get one. Truly--everyday during the SAD season, I cry uncontrollabley. I sleep all afternoon (awakening at 11 a.m., only to break fast at noon and lately crash all afternoon having nothing to do and no where to go. The t.v. irritates me/nauseates me. I have migraines too.) One year, I even stopped eating for over three months, with the exception of popsicles.
I have a problem taking buses as I fall asleep on them. My anxiety is too high to drive.
Kate.

Where do you buy those lights from? I don't have a Costco by me, like Wind. Any ideas? Aren't they really expensive too? I think they call them Light Boxes.
This is also something I could add to my Christmas list if mom isn't done with me yet. She's an early shopper!
This is seriously why I am considering moving to someplace where there is no winter. SAD has been a problem for me since I was little.

and another thing to possibly try is a dawn simulator. I was telling Nelly the other day, I'm taking a chronobiology class, and we've talked about SAD since it's a circadian rhythm problem and that's what my class is about. Dawn simulators are alarm clocks that gradually brighten a light for the 30 minutes or so before the alarm goes off, simulating sunrise. It helps with SAD by waking you more naturally, and exposing your photoreceptors to light.
I don't know where to find them though, I came across some on a Google search, but they're a little pricey. If you have a SAD diagnosis, maybe insurance can help? I'm not sure.

I'll ask my doctor about them. I doubt my insurance will pay for it (it's pretty lousy insurance), but it's worth a try. And I don't have 100's of dollars to spend on them either, which I think they cost over 200 dollars.

taking Prozac! I agree with you about getting lost in books! Good idea.
Do you know where to get the full spectrum bulbs and sunlights?
