Hi, I have only recently been diagnosed with IBS and FBS and have been told to go on a low fibre diet. So i can eat anything that is less than 2g in fibre per 100g is there anyone else like this?
I am very glad to have found this site as i have been having a bad few years and being diagnosed with IBS just topped it off and it was getting very hard, but this site proves you can beat it and control it.
A bit about me, Im 17 and currently studing A levels (sociology, philosophy & ethics, and general studies) in the UK. Hopefully i will go to uni to futher my studies but no before i have a well deserved gap year where i hope to carry on my jewellery making!
I have a sister who does not have IBS but is lactose intolerant same as my mum. We also have 4 tortoises and a very mad dog who has his own fair share of allegies causing a very sore skin rash. So we are highly mad !!!!
well enough about me, i hope to get to know all about you sll
bye Pookz

Hmmm...who told you to go low-fibre? And did they explain the difference between SF and IF? Have you read the diet guidelines? I highly recommend getting "IBS: The First Year" btw, it's so good to have.
By FBS do you mean FMS - Fibromyalgia?

Cute name, Pookz. I have a little Westie that I nicknamed Pooks.
Sorry about your diagnosis. It sucks. I don't have FBS, but I do have diverticulosis and IBS. I'm a "D," so everywhere I go I have to scout out bathrooms. Not fun.
You can do it, Pookz. Like you, so many of us have other diagnoses to deal with besides IBS. It ain't easy, but you can do it. Check out the IBS Diet Board for more diet-related stuff; the Living Room Board is where we usually chat about non-IBS stuff, such as what color purse to buy and how long to let our hair grow.
You make jewelry? Good for you! There's another gal here who does that; in fact, I think she sells it online. We used to have a gal here who is a chocolatier -- can you believe it? Making chocolate with a diagnosis of IBS! She also has fibromyalgia. See, it CAN be done!
Welcome to the Boards. You'll get LOTS of help and support here. I learned a phenomenal amount about IBS when I found the Boards. You will too. You came to the right place.
Bev

Hmm...weird. I'll do some research on FBS when I have time. IBS is a functional bowel disorder btw!
And feel free to email me (if you do I'll give you my phone number too). I'm an official helpline for FMS over here and I do IBS as well so don't worry about badgering me! It's what I'm here for.
The book can be bought from this site btw.

Hello and Welcome! What kind of jewelry do you make? I use primarily swarovski crystal and sterling silver. I work in a small eye doctors office and my boss is kind enough to let me display and sell it! I will also occasionally do parties at peoples homes or set up at the hair salon I go to on the weekends. I've been having some other problems lately and haven't done much more than sell it at my office but I usually sell a few pieces a month and I usually sell enough at christmas time to pay for all the chistams presents I need to buy!

Hi there! Welcome to the website, nice to see new faces around the boards.
I don't know if this is entirely correct, but I am fairly sure that IBS and FBS would be pretty much the same thing. Assumably, you could go about treating them in the same way as well. I am surprised to hear that your doctor suggested you go LOW fiber, as most of us only hear "Eat more fiber, eat more fiber". Did he say anything else about diet? If you are eating low fiber, what does a daily menu for you look like? I am curious about what sort of diet has been recommended! Well, hope you find some great info around the boards and let us know how you are doing!
Cheers! --Steph
