We have recently found that bees are living in the wall of our house!!!!!!! Now some are coming inside. I don't know how. We have tried to block holes, spray, etc. Anyone out there ever dealt with this problem? When do bees go dormant for the winter. Off to vacuum up more bees.

Back in the late spring/early summer, our house was swarmed. If I understand it right, the queen was looking for a new place to nest, and all the drones just swarmed wherever she landed. We had bees coming in the windows, doors, through the electical sockets...it was like something out of a bad horror flick! I had about 200 bees in my laundry room alone!
Thankfully, they apparently found a better place to build the hive, because they were gone in about 24 hours. It sounds like they must have come to your house!
Check your area and see if there are any local honey keepers. They are always happy to come and remove bees that have begun a hive in someone's home. We had a bee keeper on the way to our house when the bees finally moved away on their own! It is an unusual problem. I hope you can find someone to help.

Bamagirl,
Thanks for your reply. I looked in the yellow pages under beekeepers and sure enough there was one! I never knew we had local beekeepers. I got some great info. on what to do and not do. I've learned an important lesson about bees. Leave them alone until winter! Glad your swarm moved on. I basically learned not to try to get rid of them and they will not bother us and will die out after a couple hard frosts, then we can repair the damage.
Thanks again and have a great day!
