So I officially have 15 minutes before I start drinking the stuff. But get this---I already have diarrhea!! I typically NEVER get D, so this is weird. I wonder if it's because I started my liquid diet yesterday so I haven't had much solid food. Or...could it be nerves? I just spoke to the nurse and I'm not really worried or nervous, I think I'm more nervous about the prep! Anyway, whatever. I'm just looking forward to tomorrow!

I'm sure it's probably a combination of things, nerves, liquids...etc...How has the low fiber part of the diet been? I start mine on Sunday for my colonoscopy/endoscopy next Wednesday. Have you been absolutely hungry? Of the list they gave me, I can tolerate about two of the foods on it. I'm so afraid I'll be gnawing off an arm (LOL)in my sleep...I ALWAYS wake up in the middle of the night hungry. How has the liquid diet been? Sorry to probe so much, but I guess I'm a little nervous about getting through the prep myself. The test it self, I'm (oddly enough) not too concerned with. Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow.

If you think about it, if you've already been on liquids for a day or two, there can't be much left inside. I'll bet one Fleet dose will clean you out completely!
Good luck!

Well, I am so hungry I feel crazy. Does that help you, lol?? I too, can wake up hungry. I like to eat often and plenty. I can't ever skip a meal, and can hardly skip snacks! so this has been hard. as for low fiber, I haven't even thought of it. I've been relatively stable, this is a "better safe than sorry" test. Let me tell you---you will REALLY appreciate food after this. Even stupid food you were probably sick of like rice. Oh, glorious rice. I will post later after I've started the actual "prep". I am 10 min late. Oops! People aren't meant to only consume liquids! It's just not right!

with some ginger ale. It certainly wasn't pleasant, but wasn't as bad as I thought. Now I guess I just wait.

I really understand the hunger thing. I eat all the time(of course, my weight is beginning to reflect it unfortunately, but at least I'm feeling better..:)). I'll be thinking about you. Alyson

I'm hoping to fall into a coma at some point tonight so I can just forget it ever happened, ha ha! If I was my husband, I'd stay far away....

ugh.. the prep sounds crappy! I haven't had a colonoscopy yet.. but I do have to have a small bowel xray in a few weeks, and I think I have to drink alot of gross crap and sit around.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
anyways.. good luck with the prep epa ginger.. let us know how its going.

feel a bit queasy, and have gone to the bathroom 5 times since I started! But it always quick and painless. I wonder...how do you know when you're "cleaned out"??

Basically when nothing but clear water is coming out.
All I can say, what saved me during mine was that my apartment had wireless internet, so I could sit in the bathroom all night with my laptop!

I was just saying....I know I'm going #2, but it SOUNDS like #1. This is just such a bizarre thing! So let's say, before 8:00 hits (when I'm supposed to take my second dose, an hour and a half away), I'm already at the point where it's clear, do I still need to do the full dose? ugh, I just dread it now that I know what it tastes like!

I'm not a doctor, but I personally think the second dose is useless if you're already cleaned out. I took my second dose like a good little patient, and all it resulted in was more clear liquid. That, and I felt weaker than I had before!

I'm expecting the same thing. I've gone like 10 times, and the last few have been near clear. But I'm worried that if I don't take it something will get screwed up. I'm definitely NOT doing the "optional" enema in the morning!!

I had to drink it really slowly, and I didn't finish ( I did take the dulcolax though). Frankly, I don't think I even needed it since I started the liquid diet a day early and feel pretty "cleaned out" already. I had started to feel better by 7, so I had an hour to pack for my weekend at the cottage, do dishes and fold the towels. I think to help get through the next hour (excessive toilet visits and nause), I will take a nice bath.
It's funny how quickly I stopped wishing I could eat!

Isn't the prep fun? I would say practically crystal clear...or the colour of really diluted pee (sorry so gross). I still wasn't going completely clear when I went for my scope and they were still able to do it without a problem, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Good luck! Kelly

Well, I got 6 hours of sleep, so that's good. But I went to the bathroom two more times this morning, hopefully that's not bad. It was nothing much, believe me. I can't wait for this to be over!!

Well, I have no recollection of having a colonoscopy AT ALL. Very nice! Good drugs they gave me. I was pretty out of it for awhile. I just took a one hour nap and I'm still foggy, but we're going to eat and then hit the road so I'll sleep in the car.
Good news: NO PROBLEMS!! The doctor found NOTHING, he said everything looked great, and I can get another one when I'm 40. He was really nice, and the nurses were too. It was hilarious when I was done in recovery and my husband was with me and the nurse kept telling me to "toot".
So I'm off and won't have internet access. Everyone have a great weekend!

Hey - I wanted to ask you, where in Chicago do you live? A suburb? I grew up in Wheaton...hubby and I lived in Lisle and Naperville also. Just curious!

it's southwest of Chicago, 30 min from downtown no traffic. My husband has relatives in Wheaton... Incidentally, we moved my brother home from Bradley University in May! That was my first, and only time, in Peoria!

Glad everything came back negative!!!! Sounds like the whole procedure went well for you. Lucky girl! I"m so jealous. My doc told me that I didn't need another one for 10 years Woohoo, however it's been 4 since my last one and those 4 went quick. Uh oh, only 6 more years till then next one
