That's great. I think if people love each other, nobody should impose their own beliefs on them and not allow them to be legally married. Love is love!

It is great - it's good to see that the government is finally being more of a leader on political issues instead of the usual 'stay-the-course' management we've seen a lot of recently. All we need is the Senate to rubber stamp it and it's good to go.

It's interesting to notice how the country hasn't been sucked into the social chaos Mr. Harper alluded to. Although it's a fairly recent event nationally, in Nova Scotia we've had it for months now, but still there have been no riots on the streets, families spontaneously breaking up, etc.

Same sex couples have been getting married in Toronto for a while now. We get loads of people coming here from other countries who want to get married.

As far as I can tell there is no social chaos, riots or general disorder so far....

That's wonderful news! And I agree - love is love, and NOBODY has any right to impose their personal beliefs on someone else's relationship. Hooray! And Isabel - advance congrats to your friend!

Just in case we'll tell everyone to keep an eye on their couches when you're around.

No, no jumping on couches for me. I already walk on air when I talk about Tina. Ugh, I know, people are going to get tired of me gloating like this...

I attended Gay Pride on Sunday in NY, and let me tell you, I am on this etherial high from all the nice people I met while I was there. They have to do this more than one time a year!!!

While I was there, I stood up in favor of the marriage initiative to end special rights for hetrosexuals. I am 100% behind gay marriage and I was proud to speak up for my gay friends who are in this denied by our federal government.

As I am a firm believer of not eating at the whites only diner counter, I have pledged not to get married until all my fellow voting Americans can do the same. And I applaud Canada's push to be on the right side of history!!!! Hope we can follow their shining example soon!!

Yours, suprisingly not otherwise political,

~nelly~

I never understand the problem people have with gay marriage anyway - it's not like hetero marriage is just for procreation now anyway!

I think everyone should be allowed to get married to who the heck they want. If I'd fallen in love with a girl, I probably would have wanted to (I'm bi, but fell for a guy)!
