HELP! Out of control IBS symptoms

I've recently been diagnosed with IBS. My doctor prescribed a laxitive to get me "cleaned out" and then put me on Zelnorm. My worst symptoms are gas, bloating and distention. So far my symptoms have not abated. Can anyone suggest anything that might help?

I take peppermint oil pills and they really help out alot. That and avoid caffine. I have bad pain with my ibs and it normally helps to take a hot bath or use a heating pad.

Get "IBS: The First Year"...I REALLY recommend it. And start on a SFS right away. Then start following the diet - it's all in the book (plus more) or on this site.
Stabilising takes a different length of time for everyone. Took me about 6 months, but I was mainly D then which can be easier to deal with.
