I've lost almost 10 lbs on Weight Watchers. It's going to be a long battle for me because I cannot exercise much, but I have got to get this extra weight off.
My goal is to be much slimmer by the time our son graduates on June 10th. Family will be in town then, and I want them to notice a change!

Thats great BL! I have been wanting to try WW, the problem is I cannot find a meeting place that fits in with my time schedule and the grandkids. I have been offered the book from a friend, I want to get started on a weight loss program, though several dear friends have suggested I try not to start on a weight loss program right now because of the stress and anxiety I am suffering from right now. I see their point, most days, I do not have the mental engergy to to do anything but take care of them. This divorce is getting nasty, and all I want to do is sheild the kids, my emotions are running on fumes.
I digress, is it pretty easy to follow?

I've attended the meetings before (so I have all of the WW materials already). This time I'm just doing it on my own---with the help of a great website.
If anyone cannot get to a meeting but wants some motivation and information, this is a terrific website---- www.dottisweightlosszone.com.
Scroll down to the blue bars. Under "Restaurants," you will find the points of every restaurant you could imagine. They're in alphabetical order.
Under "Message Board" is even more help. These are my favorites---
1. Weekly WW Meeting topics---everything that's discussed at meetings 2. Tips that Work 3. Restaurant/Food Points and Questions 4. Foods that Keep Us Op (on program)
WW now has 2 programs---the points program and a new one called Core (which I've never done). With the Core program, you can eat unlimited amounts of only certain foods. With the points program, you can eat whatever you like---as long as you stay within your points range for the day.
If anyone wants more info, let me know. I have all of the WW companion books. Dotti's website has been so much help to me---I could read it for hours!!!!
WW is really easy, once you get the hang of it. And with the points program, you can eat whatever you want---which is great! It doesn't seem like a "diet" at all, especially when I'm eating a small bag of M & M's (Michelle, I think of you each time!) or a big WW vanilla icecream bar covered in Oreos.
It just makes you conscious of how much you are eating. By writing everything down on paper, you are holding yourself accountable for every morsel that goes in your mouth!

I understand not trying to diet while very stressed, but that's how I got in this position in the first place. I overeat when I'm anxious or stressed, which seems to be all the time now. I just finally decided that there would always be stresses in my life---and that I had to quit using that as an excuse for eating too much!
Now I feel so much more in control. Writing everything down helps me to take it one day at a time.
I'm sorry the divorce is getting nasty. That must be horrible to feel caught in the middle. But thank goodness the little ones have you there for some stability.
I will pray for you and your family.

My back is so much better since I had the cortisone injection. I slept last night from 10 p.m. until 8 this morning!!! What a treat! I still have pain during the day, but it's tolerable with the Bextra I'm taking.
Thank you for asking. You are sweet!

I am like you, a stress/anxiety eater. Right now, I am holding myself back from the fresh ice cream in the freezer. I know it will pack itself on to my tummy and my butt, I went shopping with my mom and sis yesterday. All I could see in that terrible mirror, was cottage cheese on my butt and thighs, ughhh, it was disgusting.
I do have to do something, my son is on me about going to the gym with him. I am going to make an effort for the end of this week or next week.
I need the prayers and do appreciate them, you are getting prayers back from me.
How are you handling the back pain? Thinking of you and praying also!

Speaking of icecream, Weight Watchers has these new icecream bars. They are soft vanilla icecream covered with Oreo crumbs. Yum! I can eat those without feeling guilty!
Also, Klondike has some Slim-a-Bear icecream sandwiches that are low fat.
Try one of those to hit the spot.
I'm doing much better with my back. It only hurts during the day---if I sit too long! As long as I'm up and moving, I'm ok. It is great to be sleeping all night.
I know you are very stressed with your family situation. I hope things get better for you soon. Go work out for me! I can't go because of my back problems, but sure wish I could.

Those Slim A Bear ice cream sandwiches are very good, I love them. I will be looking for the WW Bars, sounds yummy!
I am going to the gym next week, hopefully. This week has been very busy. I am getting depressed, my 9 year old grandson is having a difficult time, he had 2 meltdowns this evening. He is in serious pain. My #2 son and his wife are strong Christians, I talked to them tonight, told them I feel like I am treading water and getting tired. They are going to intervene with him this weekend, feel him out and see who he wants to confide in and go from there. This is so painful, I am also trying to get my house set up to inhabit kids again. I guess my purple shabby chic bedroom is going to be changed into something they will be a little more comfortable in. I have been assured by them that the colors in this room do not matter to them, I know better. I want them to feel like this is thier home, I am thinking about taking the full sized bed out and buying a trundle bed, when their little brother (2yr) comes to visit he can have a bed for himself and sleep next to his brother. What do you think about that? I need some help, I am very tired and fighting a UTI right now. I am getting tired and depressed, thats why I have no choice but to go to the gym and work out.
I am very tired, talk to you soon! How is your colum working out? Did you mention you needed story ideas? Like, what? I am so glad your back is doing so much better, hope it stays that way! Love to you, gayla

I'm so sorry your little grandson is having such a hard time. Bless his heart! That must be a lot for a little boy to handle. I hope they do find someone he feels comfortable talking to.
As for you---you sound very tired and depressed. I know you can't help but get in the middle of this, but please don't let this wear you down, physically and emotionally. I am worried about you. You have to take care of yourself too.
You are very sweet to take these little ones under your arm and protect and nurture them when they need it the most. I don't think they care what color your bedroom is, as long as they feel welcome in your house, which I know they do. Maybe they would have fun helping you redecorate it, though. That might give them a diversion from everything else going on right now. Just be careful! You may end up with a baseball theme---or a Playstation one! Ha!
As for the trundle bed, that sounds fun! Or you can do like my parents did when my boys were little---they just had one of those waffle-type mattresses that they pulled into their bedroom when our boys visited. Mine thought that was so neat to be able to sleep on that!
Take care---and I hope you feel better soon. Take those boys for a walk around the block, and maybe that will help you too!
((((Hugs))))

Hi, BL!
Congrats on your weight loss -- 10 pounds is AWESOME!! Good for you. And glad to hear your back is better. I've had cortisone shots for two different things and it's amazing how fast they work. BTW, can you really eat dairy okay? It doesn't trigger your IBS? If so, you are VERY lucky.
Keep up the good work, hon!

Gayla, my dear, I had no idea you were going through such rough times. I must have missed your post. It's sweet of you to want to make your grandkids feel welcome, but if it will take ANY energy on your part, DON'T DO IT!! You have a chronic illness called IBS and people who are sick are not only allowed to rest, we NEED to rest. And don't guilt trip yourself about it. Grandchildren don't care how things look, they care only about warmth and affection and fun. At least that's all I remember about my grandparents!!
Feel better, hon.

LS, I haven't talk to you in so long, thanks for your concern, I know you are right. We have had several long talks and they could care less what their rooms look like. So, for now, I am not going to make that a top priority. I sure appreciate your concern for my health, which I feel going down rapidly. Depression is a cruel and evil thing.
BL, You too are right, these boys do not care what their rooms look like. They are too busy trying to keep thier little minds busy, and thatis wearing me out.
My sister called and wanted to come over and spend the day with me and the kids Easter Sunday, I had to explain to her that we were going to church, coming home and taking naps or watching movies. I have to take one day a week and sleep, or relax and watch movies or read. I really like it when I don't have to talk to anyone. I am sure they would understand, it probably wouldn't hurt them to have some quite time to themselves. My h has been helping me quite a bit, it makes me feel really good.
I saw my mom and step dad today, it was nice tohave their company and share a meal together, they left at a good time so they would not be on the road at dark. I hated it when they left, I need to take some times and go spend it with my mom. We both need each others company.
Thanks for the help and concern, I appreciate it and know your answers come from the heart! Love to you, gayla

Girl, I am so glad to see you back, I have been missing you. Getting moved into a new house is an undertaking, how is that going?
June, huh? well, that is plenty of time to drop a few more pounds, and you will feel more comfortable. Yay for you!! I am loosing, but I had a set back or two, it doesn't matter, I am still going. Right now, I am going to keep it off and try to stay at the same weight. I have had so much sad stress the last few months, sometimes it is all I can do just to hold on to what I've got,and if I can do that, then I am happy! Lost two lbs last week, that was awesome, because I thought I had gained about 4.
Let us know how things are going in your new home.
hugs to you, gayla
