Hello all!

I've been on vacation in Florida, so I haven't been able to log in much and post, but I wanted to share my exciting news with you all. Matt proposed on the beach last Sunday night and it was absolutely perfect. If anyone wants the mushy details, let me know.

As for IBS-related news, I'm so happy to be (almost) home, as we are at my parents' house for the night. It has been quite a challenge trying to make cajun food "safe." I did surprisingly well, but I've definitely suffered some attacks and I'm looking forward to getting home and eating my own prepared, safe foods.

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend so far!

It's been almost a week and I still have the excited butterfly feeling in my stomach.

Sunday night we had planned to celebrate our anniversary (which was actually the weekend before last, but we wanted to celebrate it while on vacation on the Gulf Coast) by having dinner at this fantastic restaurant called The Fish House (which was actually so damaged by Ivan that it just reopened last Friday night) and then Matt wanted to take me out to the beach at night. We've been talking about marriage for almost a year now and have been living together for a year, but I was still caught completely off-guard.

Ok, the mushy details:

We were walking along the beach and it was getting pretty dark out - the usual lights from the hotels are not as bright because there is still so much damage from the hurricane. Anyway, we were playing the cute, sickeningly sweet couple game of "I love you more" "No, I love you more" and Matt says "I love you more because I bought you this" and pulls out the box and opens it. It was really too dark to see what was exactly inside of it, and though my first instinct was 'That's an engagement ring!', I didn't want to scream yes and it be a pair of earrings. So I asked "What is it?" And he got down and said, "Will you marry me?" I don't even think I said yes for at least a minute - I was in so much shock I kept saying "Oh My Gosh" over and over again and kissing him. He claims he knew what I meant.

Anyway, my ring is absolutely gorgeous, everything I've always wanted, but the most important part is that I'm now engaged not only to the love of my life but also to my best friend. I'm excited beyond belief.

The wedding won't be for another year and a half, because I'd like to wait to graduate first, but we are both now really happy to be engaged.

They say that you'll never forget the night you got engaged for obvious reasons. Well, now Matt has a funny story to tell: he says that my reaction to him proposing was to puke! Not exactly accurate, as I only started getting sick a few hours after he proposed, but still funny. I think I caught a little virus because I was still a bit sick the day after. But really, I wouldn't change anything about Sunday night for the world.

Hi there,
Congratulations!! That's so wonderful for you!!
I read your mushy details, and that is just too cute. Well, I guess you getting sick afterwards wasn't exactly cute but if you leave that part out, it's an all around lovely story!!
A year and a half seems like a good amount of time to plan your perfect wedding AND have graduated, it all sounds just perfect.
Very very happy for you!
Congrats again!!

What a great story & an absolutely perfect proposal! Well, except for the stomach virus part, I'm sure you could have done without that.

Congratulations again!
