I was just posting about my SIL's automatic car starter so it's warmed up in the winter. It's like her favorite little luxury. I thought it would be interesting to find out all of yours!
Mine is taking cabs. In NY that can get expensive but it's way nicer than the subway or the bus. So I treat myself. One of the reasons I worked my behind off and saved all my money is so I could take cabs when I want to! (PS, we don't own a car so we don't have all that expense to deal with.)

I guess mine would have to be either my computer or books cause if I don't know about something or I want to know what something looks like or how it works I just look it up. I don't think I could live without a how to guide or .coms.
How's that?

I am all into fancy spices lately. Fancy cinnamon and vanilla beans yum! Good olive oil and fresh stuff from the garden. Maybe food should not be a reward?!

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Last Christmas my dil's decided I needed something special from Victoria. They bought me Body Lotion, Shower gel, the whole set, {LOVE SPELL}. Now, I am addicted to it. Being that I cannot wear perfume because of allergies, their body spray is outrageous! Love it all. Yes, I decided that this was going to be my fav luxory for the year...and believe me, I have faithfully visited the store to keep my supply going. Love it, Love it, Love it !!!!!!

Fish from Marks and Spencers - it's expensive but actually tastes of fish and the fillets are boned properly. Sea bass is my all time favourite and salmon and trout are great with a bit of truffle oil.
My new luxury will be my dog and two kittens that I am getting when we move - I really can't afford them as I am on sick leave for a couple of months, but it's worth it. Looks like I'll be eating cheap fish and rice for a while - either that or training the dog to catch some for me!!!!!

Good chocolate! I used to only eat milk or white chocolate because too much cocoa gave me migraines. Now I can't eat those, but I can eat 70% cocoa plain chocolate! So I treat myself to the BEST!

Spa Days (tm). I can't afford to go off to a spa, so I do it at home. Soak in a hot bath, do a facial masque, manicure and pedicure, follow it with a treat for lunch (like some sushi, which I never buy because it's expensive) and/or a nap. Ahhh...

I have 2- a piece of really good dark chocolate (Hrm- I have some at home, maybe tonight?) or working with really fancy fiber.. I knit and crochet and spin, and some of the fibers are just a dream to work with but cost a fortune too... I want to make a sweater out of one yarn, but the yarn would cost 85$ to buy! its called cotton tape and at 8.50 a ball, 10 balls is more then I can afford...

Ohmigoodness, YES, Melissa. My dream is to someday have a room with floor to ceiling bookshelves and some of those library steps. I have a stack of about 25 books that I bought and haven't even read yet. I'm trying not to buy more, but it's hard!

Well, yes, Linz, if it's not the BEST it's not a luxury!! Andy buys Valhrona or Caillbaut (sp?) sometimes for cooking, usually the unsweetened, but sometimes the semi sweet. That he has to hide from me!!

I absolutely LOVE tape yarn sweaters! I have one that's a dark purple sleeveless shell from I think Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy. I wondered why they're so expensive -- it's the yarn itself. Cool!

This is kinda goofy, but I like to have my lunch in front of the TV watching....Soap Operas. Yeah, I know, I need to get a life. I think it is really fun to see what all these people that I feel like I know personally are up to. I limit myself to two Soap Operas and then I'm back to my duties as assigned.

...I moved into this s***hole apartment we live in. Part of the "spa day" experience is having a nice ambience in the bathroom, and our bathroom in this dump is SO awful that all the candles and incense in the world can't make it a relaxing place for me. (Hint: the walls are rotting, the toilet is butted up against the tub, and we don't even have consistent hot water!)
So... yeah, it's been about a year.
Can't wait till we move!!

Sounds great, Barbie! I saw an article somewhere recently about all these actors who'd gotten their starts on the soaps. A lot of amazing names! Of course I can't remember a single one now!! (ribbit)

LOL! I wasn't going to admit mine until you said Soap Operas, Barbie!! *deep breath* Mine is reading the tabloids. It was my new year's resolution to read crap each week, and it's grown on me...!
I'm the former stoic, sarcastic, hoity, English major literature snob, so trust me, it's very funny to see me reading that dreck. AND I LOVE IT! Mwah hah hah!

Hi,
It's really fun to see how "the other half" lives, isn't it? Everytime I watch the Soap Opera I am so thankful my life is stable and boring. hehe
I admit I like to sneak a peek at the Enquirer, too. My mom loves to read them and she's 85.

Hi,
I watch Bold & Beautiful and As the World Turns. I've been watching them for several years and feel like the actors are all friends of mine. ha ha
The girl I work with and I watch them during our lunch hour, also, and we talk about everybody on the soaps like we know them. It's been fun.
Do you watch them, too?

I had to go look that up (Longaberger baskets) -- they're gorgeous!! When I reorganized my coat closet this year I bought three matching baskets for the shelf, one for shawls, one for scarfs and one for hats and gloves. Everytime I open the closet door, it looks so nice it just makes me glow a little inside! So I know what you mean!

When I was working, it was Coach bags. I used to slobber all over myself when the new mail order catalogue came out. I'd call the manager of the Coach outlet in the next town and tell her which new models I wanted; she'd put them on hold for me 'till I could get in. I'd make an outlet run with my girlfriend and buy 3 or 4 bags at a time. It was a sickness.
Now that I'm retired -- and broke -- no more Coach bags for me. Now I luxuriate with a bottle of Oscar de la Renta body bath. At $40 a bottle, it's pretty luxurious for an old retired fart like me. A bottle lasts me about 3 months.
With the new house, I've had to resort to plain old Zest bar soap. However, now that we've sold the condo, I think I might have to make a trip to Macy's toiletries department and just pray there's no Coach outlet within a 100 mile radius.....

Yes, I watch All My Children on my lunch hour too. I'm fortunate enough that I only work 6 minutes from my home so I come home for lunch and watch it. Now the pathetic part of it is my co-worker and I listen to our channel 6 on the radio and we then can listen to One Life to Live, and General Hospital. Now, on the rare occasion when I am sick or stay home with a sick child, I sit my butt in front of the TV from 9am to 4pm and watch ALL daytime shows. It's an addiction. I guess that's why I say I could never stay home. I'd do that every day and that would not be good
I know what you mean though by thinking you feel like you know them. I litterly talk to the one character, Ryan Lavery on All My Children, and tell him how much of a hottie he is and when he's sad that I'll console him! I'm bad.

Laura Sue, they are gorgeous aren't they! Very expensive for a basket. They do go up in value, however, you have to have someone that would want to pay top dollar for an older basket that's worth something. I try to justify with my husband, "but honey, they will be worth money someday". They are a REAL addiction. I was totally bad buying them for years and have finally stopped. I have one show a year and get a lot of free stuff from having a show(demonstration). The Christmas baskets are always nice. You should treat yourself someday to one but watch out...they are addicting!

Hi Lisa,
My mom watches the ones you do. I'm fortunate, too, that my co-worker lives close to work. I work part time so the days I work we pick up some lunch an head to her house to watch our "shows". We are always speculating on what will happen or what should happen and think we should have been writers for the shows. ha ha It's really fun to have someone to share it with.
On my way to work & "Soaps".
