Does anyone use Yaz? Does it, or a different birth control, affect your IBS?
-------------------- food allergies: soy, dairy, peas, lentils...& more
IBS-A
nausea, dizziness, fatigue
when will it end?

I used birth control for a little over 20 years. I only used yaz for about 6 months, before that I used NuvaRing and I can't remember what pill I used before that. I always have gotten bad diarrhea when I have my period until I went off birth control. I do not know if the two are related or if it's just coincidence that I don't have trouble with that anymore. As I've gotten older, I noticed that the birth control seemed to lower my sex drive (it's back to normal now) and it caused brown splotches on my skin, which is why I tried yaz since it has a very low dose of estrogen. I'm glad to be off of it, but still don't know if it affected my IBS!

Thanks for your response. It is really difficult with all kinds of outside factors to determine which of them are affecting IBS!

I was on yaz I cant really say if it affected my IBS. I dont really remember having any problems like that with it though. I was really irregular on it so I switched to Seasonale and when my IBS got really bad I got off of it and there were no changes. sooo idk
Did you like the Nuva Ring?

I use Yasmin. My IBS-C turns into either fairly normal BMs or IBS-D during my periods. For me, I think it's due to hormone changes (either natural or from birth control pills) as I had the same problem before I was on birth control. I have read many articles that says that many women experience BM changes around or during their periods as well. Try googling it.

Personally I think I'm going to stick with my pill (marvalon) as it really evens out the cramps and bloating I had before and at the start of each period. It also makes my period predictable so It's one less thing to worry about.
