Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with IBS, and want to thank you all for this great site. I am trying to loose weight however, and want to replace one meal per day with the optifast meal replacement drink. Has anyone got information on this or tried it? I find it interesting reading the site's information on good and bad foods after having a discussion with a local dietition from a pharmacy/chemist. It seems she doesnt know much about dieting when one has IBS. Thanks again, Karen

Hi Karen,
I couldn't find the ingredients online, but most meal replacement shakes are made from DAIRY, which is a huuuuuge no-no for IBS.
Also from what I've read, Optifast is probably the the most expensive "diet plan" out there, and kind of a waste of money in my opinion. (IMO, any diet plan that recommends or requires that you buy its products is a SCAM.)
Losing weight with IBS is really no different from those who don't have IBS: Exercise, watch your portion size, cut out all junk food and *stick to it*.
Nothing bad for IBS there If you have any weight loss questions feel free to voice them in this forum, or maybe consider starting 'reporting in' on this board to get some support from the community.
Good luck!
