Hmmm...did some thinking/reassessing re: Nexium. I am going to stop taking it as I do not find it effective and seem to be experiencing negative side-effects including facial edema and bloating, cyclical vomitting, more D attacks, nausea and cramping & a mysterious perpetual hiccup.
green tea chai with rice dream
rice crispies
steamed jasmine rice portabella mushrooms asparagus green sauce (so yummy & safe--just asparagus, baby spinach & fresh basil pureed!)
mini potatoes oyster mushroom (my all time favourite 'shroom!) more asparagus green sauce
mini potatoes french cut green beans
organic puffed corn (no, not popcorn; just plain "Nature's Path" puffed corn!)
AND, I CONFESS, A WHOLE POT OF UFO COFFEE!!! (But no cigarrettes. I couldn't sleep, so I drank a pot of coffee and slept like a babe. Warped. I had a few Immodium in me. Totally irrational, but after a D attack, I had this HUGE CRAVING for a pot of coffee. Riddle me that one, Batman.)
Summary: Well, I'm eating better & better again (& with self confidence) for IBS. Thanks jaime, karen, michele, & maria. Your menus/notes have really helped get me back on track. I'm probably not eating enough, but I'll get there. I'm learning that simple FEELS good, and tastes good. Also, that rice steamer was a wicked buy!
Still having D attacks, but Immodium Advanced helped me managed. Also, ABSTAINING from my smoking addiction is actually helpful. May I say that I like myself more when I abstain? Nearly my 2 week aniversary.
Kate.

AWWWE, Thanks Kate! You have helped me in more ways than you will ever know, too.
I was afraid to eat. I couldn't eat anything except cream of wheat until I met you! You introduced me to mushrooms!! I would have NEVER imagined eating mushrooms until you told me about them.
So, maybe the Nexium is too much, you think?? How long have you been on it?? You might be right. I hope you're right!! I hope you start feeling better really soon!!
Good for you for STILL not smoking!!! I'm proud of you!!
It's okay that you slipped and had caffeine. Smoking is worse for you than caffeine, anyway.....We cannot expect you and YOU cannot expect yourself to give up EVERYTHING in one shot. Some people have done it, but eventually give into one of them and it's better you give into caffeine than nicotine. I wouldn't judge you, either way, though. Because I know how hard it is to give up EITHER ONE OF THEM!!!
Keep me updated on how you do off of the Nexium! I'm anxious to hear!

Today was an okay, day. Some bloat attacks but no D attacks after the morning!! Whoo Hooo!! I usually have 2 a day, now I'm down to one!! So far, anyway....knock on wood!!
2 Mashed Potato/Tofutti Cream Cheese/Tofutti Sour Cream/Green Bean burritos
* (Got really full and had a D attack so I stopped eating for a few hours after this!) STRONG CHAMOMILE TEA!!
4 Potato Wedges Mushrooms
*(Stomach hurt again, so I took it easy for another couple of hours!!) STRONG CHAMOMILE TEA!!
The rest of my potato wedges w/honey 2 twizzlers
MP Burrito 5 Mushrooms Nilla Wafers
HUGE Pumpkin Spice English Muffin (Christmas Gift) YUMMY!! w/ tufutti cream cheese 5 Fortune Cookies Anise Tea
Got better at the end of the day. Was jacked up in the AM because of D attack.
109 lbs. Stretched, Walked 45 Minutes, 100 push-ups.
(Push-ups are my forte, but I can't fun for sh!t!!) LOL!
Did Yoga at 9:00pm, hurt like hell! I hate yoga but I know it's good for me. I just don't have the patience for it.

1 piece zucchini bread cream of rice w/soymilk, some brown sugar and cinnamon
1 piece zucchini bread peach soy yogurt
vege potstickers w/teriyaki sauce
zucchini bread
mexican style salad thing (also called cleaning out the leftovers!) w/ brown rice, seasoned ground turkey, some black beans and a small amount of fresh spinach and soy parm
'chocolate cake for one' w/ vanilla soy ice cream
Calories were really good today thanks to the cake. Without it I would've had to eat two more meals to equal the calories though, so I guess I won't feel bad about it.
Still walking around in a pretty much constant state of anxiety, I feel more clear headed about it today though. I'm getting more able to tell myself that I am anxious merely because of the move and school coming up rather than doing anything rash (my usual reaction in the past is FLIGHT, now I am working on FIGHT instead).
BUT I am also going to Tahoe tomorrow for 4 days (with my BF and his family) which on its own sounds really nice, but when I start thinking about the 4 1/2 hour car trip and the bathroomless hiking it sounds less so. Can I just turn the worry part of my brain off? Its really not helping anything!

Hope you have a good time!! Try not to worry about bathrooms....Yea, listen to me talking. I can't even think about a 20 minute to the grocery store without having an attack....
You'll be fine!!! Have a good time!!
Don't stress!! Life is good!!
HUGS! Michelle

thanks jaime, michele for the outpouring of support.
all patched up (Nicoderm), i had a silly, but kind of interesting fantasy/wish: i wish i had a marijuana patch on, too!
all kinds of aches & pains numbed by engaging in the habit pop up. i think it's a kind of pain-numbing habit. but i keep holding on to the thought that i love myself more without the smokescreen. and, i like the fact that my mouth , my body is no longer actively an ashtray. so, when i feel like a butt-head, i'll think of beavis.
my guts, though, feel pretty raw at the moment.
i'm such an addict & i always will be...but i don't have to actively use.
also, people like being around me more now that i'm not such a stinker. i just have to learn how to breathe all over again.

Well... I'm definetly prepared!!! I'm practically bringing a whole grocery store and drugstore with me! A teeny bit neurotic, but it makes me feel better.
I tried the Chai Tea Luna bar before I started Heather's diet and I was really surprised at how good it was, but I've been a little scared to eat them since. I should get some other flavors to try. Thanks for the idea.
BTW, you are doing an AWESOME job with not smoking! I know that you are going to keep doing a great job too. We all have gallons of support for you and whenever you need to vent we are here for you!
I love your idea about the marijuana patch! I am imagining all sorts of funny scenarios with that one.
Thanks for the well wishes about the Tahoe trip. I'll 'see' everyone when I get back!

Just be careful with the Luna bars! I am not ready for them, yet. I keep eating them but they are contributing to my attacks. I tried to eat a 1/2 a day and they really bother me if I don't eat a whole lot of SF before I take a bite.
So, eat alot before trying a bite and just eat a little bit and see how it goes. I made the mistake of eating a whole one, one day, and paid for it miserably!!!
Good Luck! I take the medicine cabinet with me everywhere I go, too, so don't be ashamed of that. It's a security thing...I know.

to second (& ammend) michelle - luna bars are great and delicious, and safe, but probably not a good idea if you're feeling iffy. i adore them (chocolate peppermint, chocolate covered cherry, & sweet dreams are my favorite flavors), but i stay away from them if my ibs is acting up - too much fat & IF for those times.
