When I began the IBS diet it took all I had to just figure out what to eat everyday. One month in I began a food journal. Just a list not calorie counting and honestly thought that was just too overwhelming to address. As I began to feel better concerning the IBS/D I started tracking calories and fat counts. Then I finally added walking to my daily routine. I am a slow learner and it is amazing to me how much better I feel after just walking 2 miles a day for the last 3 weeks. I have lots of weight to lose and I feel confident that as long as I'm eating well and keep moving the weight will slowly come off. So far I've lost 18 lbs.

Hi Franny! Wow, congrats on your weight loss so far; that's great! And it's also great that you've been walking everyday - good for you! It seems that you've eased into it gradually, which I really think is the best way to make anything a 'habit'. I often catch myself trying to do everything at once - totally overhaul my diet etc. - and I know that if I try to do that, it will all fall to pieces. Whereas if I do it gradually, it becomes part of my routine and easy to stick to.

I definitely agree that it's much easier to the get the IBS under control (not necessarily "stable", just under control) before trying to address any fitness or weight loss issues. I know that's how it works for me anyway - if my IBS is going nuts, I have to focus all my attention on that and put my fitness stuff aside for awhile. Which is ok, because the faster my IBS is better, the easier it is to reach fitness goals

Again, congrats on your weight loss! Keep up the good work!
