Has anyone got any idea of what a good amount of protein to consume is? I seem to be averaging 15 or 16% of my calories from protein in a day (calories between 1800 and 2300). Yesterday I had 82g, the day before 67g. Is this ok? Good? Bad?
With my Fibro energy issues, I'd like to eat plenty of protein, but I don't know what plenty is!

Uh, that's more than plenty, Linz...way more than plenty. Are you bodybuilding? Just curious. Wow...that's well well well over the RDA...but some people feel better on a high pro. eating plan.

I'll stop thinking bout that then! B/c I have so many fatigue and energy issues with my Fibro, I'm trying to eat a high protein diet to see if that helps.
Thanks bunches.

I don't think it's enough, but I don't like my diet to be all carbs, anyway. And I do lift a bunch, so higher protein is more beneficial to me.
Linz, I believe it is recommended for people to get between 1-2g of protein per KILOGRAM of bodyweight. I usually get over, but I don't think it's really a bad thing to go over. I try to get 25-30% of my calories from protein, but that's very hard considering the protein I eat (protein powder, egg whites, chicken) are all very low-calorie. So far today I've had 38% of my cals from protein, 10% from fat and the rest from carbs.
Protein keeps you feeling full longer and gives you energy. What more could you want?

That actually fits in with what I thought instinctively - about enough but not lots. I'm typically getting about 1g protein per kilogram body weight. But then I do *no* body building exercise anymore - just light cardio and some yoga.
Okay, guess I need to keep this up and not slack off!

The U.S. recommendations re: protein intake for women is 54g/day. I'm Canadian and the D.R.A. is slightly less than that. Percentage-wise, the recommendation re: protein is 10% of calories, minimum...basically between 10% and 20%. Most foods contain a minimum percentage of calories from protein of 10%. Seriously. However, SOME PEOPLE FEEL THAT THEY FUNCTION better with a higher percentage of calories derived from protein. Basically, unless all you consume is water, it's hard not to get the minimum D.R.A. of protein. If you work out/train, etc. then obviously you might want a higher protein intake.
