I read somewhere on a website that apples, Oat Bran and oranges are soluble fiber? I thought they were insoluble. The website said a lot of the information as Heather's soluble fiber page, except for these few foods.

They're mainly insoluable, although they might contain some soluable fiber. Both of those are major triggers for me. What website are you reading from?

That's what I thought. I don't remember the name of the website, I was borded and I was surfing the web. I should know better than to stray from this website I have gotten more help here than anywhere else!

Peeled apples are safe. The insoluble part is the skin, I believe. Oat bran is insoluble but is well-tolerated by many IBS-ers (myself included). Oranges I'm not sure about.
Actually, I'm not 100% sure on any of this; this is just what's in my head!

Thanks, this is good to know. I am going to attempt eating oat bran. What do you eat that contains oat brand? Do you eat oat brand cereal?

I eat oatmeal and I buy a bread that has oat bran. I think it's "Honey and Oat Bran" or something like that. Make sure you check the label for triggers, as I can tolerate HFCS and a bit of dairy without problems.

I can't tolerate HFCS at all, but I can handel a little bit of dairy. I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

Bad, bad website for giving you that information! Yes, stick here. Heather's the total food guru and will steer you in the right direction. The people who post here are so nice and dedicated, which is so comforting and appreciated!!
Keep up the research, and check in!

I saw an official type website for some health group and it had a list of soluble fiber that was way too long. Maybe if anything contains some soluble fiber they put it on there. Perhaps for people having soluble fiber for cholosterol and stuff and not for tummy issues.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
