You can get those stick on heat pads in the bigger Boots...you just need to find someone at the pharmacy who knows about them cos they're usually stuck in a drawer! They're a life saver at work! And you can just stick them on wherever it hurts.
Try paracetamol, or if that's not strong enough (never is for me) then get Co-codamol, which is paracetamol and codeine (same as Solpadeine, but without the caffeine). The codeine is great for IBS as it's relaxes everything as well as stopping the pain being a problem.

I always use a heating pad too...and an advil and water...lotsa water. It always works for me. If I am work and feel my tummy getting "crampy" I always start chugging the water. I keep drinking it until things seem to straighten out. I always feel better after that for some reason.
I try to stay away from any food (unless it's something incredibly safe!) and just keep drinking water.
