Okay, I am new here though not new to IBS. I have had it since I was 30(Now 54). I have tasted some of the soy milks, YUCK. Any that are better than the others? Also, I use to have peanut botter on English muffins for breakfast. Can I still have peanut butter? Thanks!

I find soy milk to be absolutely nasty, so I use rice milk. Love my vanilla Rice Dream!

As for peanut butter, a lot of people can still tolerate it, but remember that it is very high in fat, and you should use it *sparingly* even if it seems that you can still eat it just fine. Personally, I can't touch the stuff; it triggers me. I've found that soynut butter is an acceptable substitute (although it is still fairly high in fat, so you'd still have to go easy on it).

Hope that helps a little!

Hi,

I really like the vanilla flavored "8th Continent" or "Silk" soy milk. I use these on cereal or in recipes. I've never been one to drink a whole glass of milk so I don't know if it is good in that way.

Regarding the peanut butter question - I find I can have 1/2 of a tablespoon or two teaspoons without trouble. Much more than that and it's just too much fat for me to handle.

Good Luck,
Leigh

I eat a tablespoon of reduced fat pb almost everyday without trouble. As for soy milk I don't drink a glass of it with dinner like I used to drink milk but I do like vanilla 8th Continent on cereal! I also love the chocolate soy milk- even my husband does and I can't keep him away from it. My advice is don't think of soy milk like it should taste just like regular milk. Think of it as different. Like did you ever have the flavored milks like banana or vanilla? They are very sweet and really taste like soy milk but if you drank them and thought they would taste like regular milk it would be pretty shocking. Does that make sense?

Thanks everyone! I have some ideas. Just bought some Silk, we will see what happens. If that doesn't work I have a "rice" alternative!
