Hey Guys,

I've been on Librax for about two weeks, and sadly have not noticed any improvement over and above the other anti-spasmodic I was taking before (modulon). I have however noticed what I think may be a side-effect...difficulty urinating. For about the last two weeks I have had extreme trouble peeing (not burning like a UTI) just trouble. It just won't come out or takes forever (sorry if this is TMI). Well, the doctors of course just tested me for a UTI or kidney infection, even though I told them I'd had both before and that it didn't feel like that.

So, I looked up librax today and noticed that difficulty urinating is one of the side effects and a light bulb went off to to speak And I figure since I don't appear to be getting any extra benefit from it, I as might as well get off it.

So, couple of questions...first, has anyone else ever had this problem while taking it?

Second, after only two weeks, do you think I would have a lot of trouble coming off it? Because I know you're supposed to get off it gradually. I will obviously be talking to my doctor about that (I see him Monday) just thought I'd get some advice.

Thanks,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

I have taken Librax for several years....started with 3 a day 30 min before meals...I'm down to 2 a day now. They have really helped me because my stress made my stomach in knots when I ate. The Librax seems to relax me and my stomach. If you don't see any improvement after two weeks and are having urinating problems....(BTW I do get that once in a while and lasts a couple days).... then check with your doc first but you should probably get off of them. That's not so bothersome to me because I would rather have that than other side effects like nausea, etc. I don't think with just 2 weeks you will have a problem withdrawing but just to be safe you might want to reduce it slowly..anyway doc will tell you.

Good luck
Barbie

I have taken Librax for about 4 months, just 1/day and about 2 weeks ago upped it to 2/day. I have noticed alot of dry mouth and now that you mention it I have had some trouble urinating, but like Barbie said, that doesn't bother me too much as I had it somewhat before and I just make sure I sit there until I'm empty--a small price to pay if the librax helps...however, if it doesn't, it's probably not worth it.
I'm still trying to figure out if it's helping me. I think it is, but still am not problem free (I'm a D) But I'm going to try it a little longer before calling my doc...good luck
