Need some advice, not sure what to do

Hey Everyone,

Hoping to get some advice from everyone here. I've been having some really bizarre pains that started yesterday and persisted througout the night. I think they may just be terrible gas pains, although if they are than they are certainly worse than anything I've ever experience before. They seem to start above the ribcage on the right side and migrate down to my lower abdomen and then start all over. It's extremely uncomfortable and nothign I've tried seems to make it better. It improves slightly when I lie down, but that's about it.

What's troubling to me is that I can't seem to eat or drink. If I have even a tiny sip of water the pain flares up something fierce. Also, (and sorry if this is TMI) I seem to be having trouble urinating. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it's not coming out properly. I'll go for like 10 seconds, and then the abdominal pain flares up and it stops and won't start up again for like a minute, and it goes on like that such that it takes like 5 minutes to pee. Very strange...

Anyways, any advice would be good...I'm going to try and call my new doctor's because apparently they have someone available 24/7, but I don't really want to go to emergency if I can avoid it because I don't have a temperature and I'm not vomiting or anything so I doubt I'll "triage" very high and will probably be there all night.

Thanks,
Kelly

Kelly, I've never heard anything like this. I'm sorry. But I think your idea of calling the doctor is a good one.

Keep us posted.

That does NOT sound like IBS! You definitely need to speak to a doctor, but as you said, with no fever or vomiting it's probably safe to just apply home treatment.

To help urinate, try sitting in a warm bath. For the pain, take some Extra Strength Tylenol or the equivalent just to take the edge off the intensity and keep you more comfortable. LIE DOWN, since it improves slightly. Does a heating pad help? How about an ice pack? You need liquids - can you suck on ice chips without pain? What about popsicles?

Feel better, sweetie. Wish there was something I could do to help.

I've had SOOOOO many of these UTIs and bladder infections, but nothing with symptoms like Kelly's, with pain starting under my chest and running down the right side and then back up again. My UTIs are always centered around the lowest part of my abdomen, and the pain is constant except for the few drops of relieving urine, which bring tears to my eyes and chills throughout my entire body. The symptoms just don't sound like Kelly's.

Kelly, how are you feeling now? Any better? Or is this continuing? Any worse?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all your advice and concern. I called the doc's nurses line and they told me to go to emergency, so I did and not too much happened. They gave me a shot for the pain which I was really grateful for (although now my arm is incredibly sore) and did a physical exam but said it was likely just "bowel related" or endometriosis flare-up.

So...they said there's not much they can do right now but try and make me comfortable, and that I should go back to the doc and have them finish with all the tests. They definately want me to have another laparoscopy to check for more endo problems, which isn't going to be fun, but I've got a request in for a referall to a surgeon so hopefully that'll be straightened out soon.

Thank you again guys for all your kind words Going to go and have some tea and sit with the heating pad...

Gee, Kelly, you really have had a bad time of it this year, haven't you?! If it's not one thing, it's another.

Well, I'm glad you got the shot and some consulting.

There will be better days, Kelly, I just know there will.
