Hey,

After much deliberation, my doc finally decided to try me on Librax since the other anti-spasmodics haven't been working and I have responded well to mild benzodiazepens in the past.

I know a few people on here have been on it, so I'm just looking for any advice. The pharmacist said I may not be able to drive, which won't work because I need to be able to drive to get to work...do other people have this problem?

Also, I know it can be potentially addictive...have the people who have tried it found that the benefits are worth the risk?

Thanks!
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

I have been taking Librax for several years. It has helped me tremendously because a lot of my IBS was brought on by stress. It helps relieve stress and relax the stomach. My stomach was always tied up in knots after I ate. I started taking 3 a day 30 min before meals. I went down to 2 a day about 1 yr ago. I am trying to go to 1 a day but lately my stress level has been through the roof so I am sticking to 2 a day for now.

I never had a problem driving but I know it can affect people differently. If I were you, I would start taking it on a day when you don't have to be anywhere and see how you feel. If you do feel a little fuzzy that will probably go away as you system adjusts. It can be addicting but I haven't had any problem dropping from 3 to 2 a day. I think you just have to be very careful if you take it for a lengthy time that you withdraw very slowly. A lot of the people on the boards are on it, too, so maybe you will get some more answers.

Good luck
Barbie

I have been on it for two months. 1/2 hour before breakfast and dinner. I think it is really helping with the pain. I have not had any problem with feeling too tired during the day. I have been sleeping sooooo much better at night since I went on it which is also helpful.

The only thing that I haven't been happy about is the doctor said it would help a lot with gas and that hasn't been the case for me. (It hasn't caused any more but it hasn't decreased either)

Let us know how it is working after a few weeks.

Leigh
