ok, this has been on my mind and heart for sometime, so I am going to be obedient and post. I am a christian and all I really want to do is let people know that I will pray for them specifically. We all have IBS or something and suffer somtimes daily with our symptoms. I can't speak for others but I do know that when someone tells me "I will pray for you" that makes me feel good. I do know my calling is to help people and give encouragment and support. I hope no one minds me posting this but it has been on my heart since I've joined. I even have to pray for my own tummy daily. Where two or more are gathered.

So glad to find other Christians who can lift up our physical needs to the Great Physician!! I appreciate your obedience in this area. I know I have prayed for many folks on this board, and the many needs that I have observed here, both physical and emotional, and I know that is what we should all do. I will gladly join you (continue) in this effort! Thanks for posting!

I believe very strongly in the power of prayer. Often I hesitate to mention to someone on the boards that I will pray for them when there is a problem because I don't want to offend anyone.

Shirl, Amen! I'm also a christian and prayer is the one thing no one can stop us from. I also would like to say I'll pray for you but don't want people on the board to get offended or think we're being preachy. But everyone here, if you believe, pray and if you don't we'll pray for you. My pastor prayed for me 2 weeks ago when I answered a call for people with something the doctor says there is no cure for (IBS of course qualified) and I just want to say that I'm not 100% yet but I am 90% better than I was feeling a few weeks ago.

Thanks for your post.
I have been touched by so many people who have shared what they are going through. When I am praying at night these people often come to mind and I lift them up to God.
In past posts I have at times said "I will pray for you" and I really mean it - I do not say it flippantly.
Just a side note - it really helps when people have their picture posted - for some reason it's just easier to have a face to go along with the username.

Just reading about the power of prayer......I don't like to preach either but can I tell you all a true story....3 years ago December 23 I developed a kidney stone. I suffered with passing a 50/50 chance stone for 8 days. Yes 8 long, painful days (over christmas mind you). I can tell you that I'd rather have another baby than have another kidney stone...anyway, my Nana gave me a prayer to Saint John Neumann and said to say the prayer. I litterly wrote the prayer down, said it and went into the bathroom and passed the very large stone. I until this day say a prayer to him EVERY night. Whether it was coincidental??? I don't know but it's been 3 years and I haven't had another one. So I fully believe in the power of prayer!

I am so proud of you Shirl, I can't tell you all how much it means to me that you are standing up for your beliefs and sharing them in prayer. For many weeks now, I have been keeping a book also, everytime I tell someone I am praying for them, I write it down on a pad by my computer. I believe in the power of prayer, I believe in the Holy Spirit, I have seen drastic changes in my life as a direct result of answered prayers.
I also am here for anyone who feels the need of prayer, just call on any one of us, we are here for you, and ready to add your name to our list, and lift you up to God in prayer.
God Bless You All !!! I also could use some prayer right now!! Thanks, Gayla

Shirl, We are Christians too. I posted about my IBS, 13 yo daughter under "Fear of Food" on June 29th. If you could read it and tell me what you think, I would appreciate it.
I've home schooled both our girls since they were 3 (we also have a 9 yo daughter), so thankfully our daughter with IBS doesn't have to deal with that. My husband somehow thinks (I found this out last night) that teaching her at home has somehow caused the way she behaves. My husband lost his father in April to "unknown causes". His father was bi-polar, diabetic and an alcoholic. My husband thinks his father killed himself. To us, it just looks like he partied once too often and that killed him. My husband also has great pressures at work. I have been so busy lately making plans for our new school year (we start on July 14th) - we have signed up with an accredited school (my husband read and signed the forms) for 8th grade and if all goes well, we plan to use them through high school.
Please forgive all this jumbbled info, I just want you to know all that is involved. Our IBS daughter was in gymnastics for 9 years (the last 6 she competed and she won many state medals). This past FEb., she turned 13 and 4 days later, she was "offically" diagnosed with IBS. She had been talking about quiting gymnastics for about 2 years, just because of the time required. So, when she was moved up to the next level, where the skills are more dangerous and the hours increase to 16 hours a week (20 in the summer), she quit (in April). And since she has quit, and since her bad IBS attack in May, she doesn't want to go anywhere, she doesn't want to have friends (Her best friend moved to FL 2 years ago and since then she hasn't really cared to make new ones- she still e-mails with her old gym pals and she goes to Sunday School, she also volunteers in a preschool class at our church) - it just seems she wants the whole world to revolve around her (my sister said that's normal for a 13 yo), but somehow I've got to get her focus off herself and back on Christ where it should be. I've talked about seeing a christian counselor and when I do, it makes her a little angry. Also, my husband wants to go away for a few days next week and our IBS daughter says "Y'all just love spending money". (That's something else I forgot to tell you - she hates change. She always has, but it seems to have gotten worse lately.) Needless to say, because eating out is impossible, more than likely, I'll stay home with our IBS daughter and my husband will take the 9 yo daughter.
Thank you for listening. And I do appreicate your prayers. Could you tell me more about you and your situation? Oh, by the way, we're in GA.
Thank you!

Hi,
If you look up a couple of posts you will see something about "to all the praying ladies". I think because you are not a woman .....that is what she meant. She was just joking around.

Hi,
Don't be embarrassed! You are as welcome here as anybody. We all suffer from IBS if we are women or men.... and yes, there are a few men on the boards, too. Anyway, we can surely pray for each other...no matter what.
Chime in anytime. It's good to get a man's perspective on things among all these "women". Be careful, though, because we do try to take over!!! he he

Thanks Barbie ....the site is wonderful & helped so much. It`s changed my life for the better. If I had to guess most men are to stubborn to deal with all this and their IBS. I know I was , suffered terribly for 3 years. But the results erased all foolishness. Thanks & god bless!
