Does anyone else have issues with when their immodium runs out and they are bound to go to the bathroom again? I guess I will give a little background- I take one immodium and usually do not go to the bathroom again for like 3 days (that is why I use it sparingly). But at the end of three days sometimes I get sick as soon as I get off of it, like as if my body just needs to get everything out. Is that the case, or did I eat something during those three days that is dying to expel itself from my body? I am confused.

Hey there,
I think everyone reacts to Immodium differently. I know some people that can take 2, and still have D, and then some that seem to have a similar problem to you.. they take 1, and end up getting all stopped up.
When I went to see my new GI doc, he said that a lot of people have the problem with Immodium that they can use it for temporarily relief, but get even more problems when it wears off. That's why I stopped taking it. Normally, it would stop me for the day, and then I'd be back to normal (which was bad D at the time for me) the next day. Sometimes, though, it would stop me up for more than just the one day and when I would go again, it was torture.
I have also been told that you can get Immodium in liquid form, you might want to give that a try. If one tablet stops you going for 3 days, you might find that a really small dosage (thus the liquid, you can take however much you want) will do the trick better for you.
Good luck, let us know how you're doing!

I have the same problem lately. When I was younger and took it I was fine when it wore off. I have no explanation or idea why, but it makes me wonder...

Please be careful of Immodium I recently went to the doctor and they found elevated liver counts and they attributed it to my daily Immodium. I found great relief and had a normal BM every morning; however, I am looking for alternate ways that are less invasive such as SFS.
