Tonight as I was making dinner for my husband and son, I started feeling kinda funny. Well, I was puzzled, because the only thing I had eaten/drank since I had gotten home was a peppermint candy, my Accacia & a peppermint cap and water. I decided to eat a rice cake and have a cup of peppermint tea to see if that would settle my tummy. I ate 1/2 of the rice cake & realized that I was on my way to a full IBS attack, I immediately took two Equalactin with water & finished my tea. I just took two more Equalactin & my Ledvid and am on my heating pad. I do not know what I did wrong. I am up to a full tablespoon of Accacia that I take before lunch and dinner. I have been at that dose for about a week and haven't had any problems. Any thoughts? I appreciate everyone on these boards. Thanks.

So sorry to hear that, Daisy. What a shame. What else did you have to eat today and yesterday? Sometimes there can be a delayed reaction.

Remember that having an empty stomach can be a problem too.

Who knows? Remember IBS is irritable ! I like to think of it as living with someone you have to walk on eggshells around and even if you do everything right once in awhile they freak out anyway.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Well, I can't tolerate peppermint. I used to take Heather's peppermint caps, but started developing terrible indigestion from it and had to stop.
Also, I'm a D, and I had been up to the full max. dosage of Acacia (without realizing it) when I started having extreme gas, bloating and BIG D at the most inopportune times. As soon as I cut WAAAY back on the dosage of Acacia, all symptoms disappeared. You might try that -- just cut back a little on it -- and see how you do.
However, I wonder if there isn't something else going on. Are you under any kind of stress, perhaps even self-induced stress? Stressing over stress? (That's what I do -- I give myself anxiety over worrying about having an attack!)
Hope you're feeling better this morning.
Bev

Hi
I agree with Bev. It sounds like you had a lot of peppermint. Maybe you overdid it.

Thanks for all your thoughts & kind words. I think it was the taking it on the empty stomach. As soon as I read that, I was like oh yeah. Usually I have a snack sometime before I take the Peppermint Cap & Accacia & that day I didn't, I didn't get hungry so I didn't have a snack. I bet I won't do that again:). As far as stress goes, I lead a very low stress life. I am very fortunate. I have had some stress in the past week (son graduating), but nothing major. For me my IBS is all about food so far. Thanks again.
