I will be seeing my family doctor next week and the Dicetel that I've been on for 2 1/2 months just isn't working. What are the IBS-D people taking? I take Immodium as well but is there a med out there that controls 'd', cramps, and pain? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx!

I take Bentyl (dicyclomine). It's an antispasmodic that helps with both D and C. I was taking it only when I had an attack, but my doctor said I should take it every day. Since then I haven't had an attack in 5 1/2 months!! I also take Imodium at the merest HINT of trouble and before eating out.

I'm also a D. But I'm not in Canada. Here's a post I sent to a gal from Canada a few months ago; it still applies: web page
I'm pleased to say that I haven't had to take any meds for several months now except for an occasional Equalactin. However, it's good to have the Big Guns on hand just in case.....

My doctor has me on Librax before breakfast and dinner. Have been on it for 5-6 weeks now. I think it helps with the pain but honestly I think the diet is what makes the difference with having D or not.

I'm just controlling my diet. No dairy, low sugar, no drinking with my meals or for an hour after. I'm also taking Benefiber twice a day. No problems.

I have taken Immodium everyday for years and recently got a elevated liver test back which my MD told me was due to using Immodium. So she just put me on Hyoscyamine/Levbid and I am supposed to take it twice a day. I guess it is an anti-spastic drug. I am new to the forum but have just begun trying the diet as well as FiberCon.

it does something to the gut nerves and as a side is constipating 50 mg. Information should be on this site somewhere, if not I think it is in Heather's book. I take the acacia, Immodium when needed(but lately I think it is making me have D) am going to get some Equalactin to give that a whirl. If I know I am going to have a stressful day I take one of Heather's peppermint pills the day before and the day of.
