Back pain and bruising

Hey all. I usually experience back or neck pain, but this is just unbearable! I have such intense pain in my lower back, left hand side. It goes from near the spine, across to my hips. It's so sore and my boyfriend found 3 bruises there last night. This feels muscular or like I've slipped a disk or something.
Is this an ibs thing or not? I"m going to see a doc tomorrow.

Hi - If you see bruises where you're feeling pain that would not be IBS. Some folks do have IBS pain radiate into their lower back, and sometimes even up to their shoulder or neck. This is usually in association with the lower abdominal pain. But back, shoulder, or neck pain as a stand alone symptom, especially if you're feeling a "muscle soreness" isn't IBS, so I would definitely see your doc.

Thanks Heather - I saw the doc today and had xrays. Basically I've got degenerative arthritis in one of my joints in the lower back. I"m too young for this!!!!
