I just wanted to throw this question out there and get some feedback from people.

For the last week or so, my throat has been so sore that I haven't been drinking much of my herbal teas (I find water goes down better than anything) and strangely I've found that I've actually been less gassy and crampy than normal. Now, I put a lot of sugar in my teas because I just don't like the taste without it. I know sugar isn't supposed to be a problem for people with IBS (although it's not great for you in general) but that's about the only time I have a lot of sugar is in my teas (at least 3 teaspoons...I know, bad!).

Anyways, I'm wondering if maybe the sugar is contributing to my gas and cramps...does anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone had a similar finding?

Thanks guys!
Kelly

well, you know i'm a big proponent of the theory that we all have different bodies and metabolisms and that all kinds of things can go on!

just one thought that may help (or may not be applicable at all) have you been checked for Candida? i have very little understanding of it, but the basics are that some people are really sensitive to yeasts. there are tons of websites out there- you should check into it. from a quick glance at just one website i see that symptoms can include (among many others) GI problems and one of the aggrevating factors (among others) is sugar. definitely worth checking out, especially since you're pointing this correlation out on your own and your IBS is so stubborn and your other tests have been "clear."

i would do lots of research about this--- i think it may be one of those things that some tests show and some don't or the tests can be inconclusive. also, i don't know if this is one of those things that all doctors "believe in" or not?

anyway, please keep me posted!

oh, duh- here's the site i peeked at: yeastie info.
