Oh my gosh! How do you people do it! I bought some ginger to chew on - the kind that has some sugar on it even...and I had to RUN to the kitchen for water when I took a bite of it. GROSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! It's funny how different people's taste buds are.

These taste much better to me than the crystalized ginger and those awful altoids. They are like a ginger gummi bear. I bought mine at Central Market in Houston for $6.99 a pound. Too expensive to eat like M&M's but great to have on hand!

The ginger chews aren't bad at all. MUCH better than the altoids. I grew up in Japan and I am supposed to like ginger but nah. the ginger chews are really rather good!

jenx has tried the "gin-gins" that are sold on that site as well. Hmmmm...
I wonder if the apple will be OK? Since it's mostly flavoring I suppose it would be fine.

I don't know...I'm scared to try anymore kinds! Maybe I will after it's been awhile and I forget how gross it was.

Yeah I never thought of cutting it up and swallowing it! I wanted it for nausea, so maybe next time I'll try that. Thanks.

Capsules instead of cutting up chews or crystallized ginger? I'm imagining you'd have no issue at all with the taste with a capsule.

Yeah, except....thinking that I would like the crystallized ginger (since I usually like anything with sugar), I bought a lot of it and now it's going to sit in our cabinet until it gets old and I throw it away. Then I'll buy some capsules!

I don't know how much you like cooking, but I've actually seen quite a few recipes here and there that call for crystallized ginger. The website mentioned at the start of this thread - www.gingerpeople.com - has a few, although I'm sure they'd have to be modified to be IBS-friendly.
Or... you could try cutting it up in tiny pieces and swallowing it, like someone else suggested. Heh. It IS harsh stuff, I'm definitely with ya there. I love it, but if I'm *really* nauseous, even I just can't take the taste of it.
