Hey Guys,

I know avocados are a soluble fiber food, and I'm trying to increase my fruit and veggie intake since I'll I'm eating right now is potatoes, rice and bread. Anyways, I made an avocado dip that is soooo yummy, but then I checked online and couldn't believe how much fat avocado's have! I thought we weren't supposed to eat anything where more than 25% of the calories are from fat?

Could someone clarify? Shoudl you just have a bread or pita with it?

Thanks,
Kelly

Hey Kelly,
I'm pretty sure its the entire MEAL that should be about 20-25% fat soooo as long as you make up for that by incorporating other low fat/soluble fiber I would assume you'd be all right. Maybe someone could clarify this?

You're right that they are very high in fat but the good kind of fat. I am highly sensitive to fat intake as a trigger. I usually can only get away with one TBSP (two if it is the only fat in the whole meal).

Yeah, it's good fat AND the 25% refers to the overall meal content. So you'd have to eat JUST lots of avocadoes for it to be a problem. Plus they contain soluble fibre, so it's not too bad.

I love them and they're great for my tummy. It's nice being able to just eat ANYTHING green!

the exact same question came up a long while back, and got several very detailed posts about it.
