Hello! My mom was just diagnosed with IBS-D. I bought both of Heather's books and we are still trying to feel our way thru what is OK for her to eat and what isn't. Is FRUIT COCKTAIL safe to eat? Or considered insoluble? We think it may have caused pain, but we aren't sure.

I eat the little cups of fruit cocktail after I have eaten a good soluble fiber meal. I would not eat it on an empty stomach . I am fairly new to the boards & I also have milder symptons than most, so hopefully someone with a little more experience will respond to your post.

It'll be high in insoluble fibre, so be very careful. ONLY eat it after a safe meal.

Thanks for the information. Loved the quote! Mom is having an attack right now, so she feels like a bug!

Just wanted to say that it's great you're looking out for your mom! I think most "typical" fruit cocktails are mostly insoluble fibre. You could make one that has more soluble fibre though - mango, papaya etc., but I guess it would't really be a fruit cocktail then!
