Hello People,

I just have a quick question about soluble fiber supplements. I started out taking fibercon, but would have had to take tons and tons of pills each day, so I switched to acacia. (currently 2tsps twice daily). I still have not noticed any significant changes in my bm, but I'm still gonna take it nonetheless.

My question is whether or not there are any good SFS in pill form, that would be equivalent to the amount of acacia i'm taking without taking 10 pills a day. I just HATE the powder. It is a HUUUUGE pain in the a$$, and I can't find anything that I can mix it with without feeling like Im drinking chunks of slimy gum. The only thing I can stand to mix it with so far is applesauce, and I'm getting sick of eating applesauce twice a day everyday.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

I second this question! I just drink it with water, and I'm fine with that....I actually think it helps me right before a meal because it makes me more full and I eat less..
BUT, I travel a LOT on the weekends, and it's a huge pain to bring acacia, a measuring spoon, a glass, a knife to level it off with....and to find time to mix it and drink it when we are usually on the road!

I know.. and I HATE it with water.. it gives it a funny taste and mine generally gets chunky which is really repulsive.

Hi all,
I am curious about SFS pills too, as I think it would be handy for work and travelling and stuff.
My Acacia used to go really lumpy, and then I started really stirring it with a fork and that seems to do the trick for me. I know what you mean about not liking to drink the sliminess, that's why I mix it like crazy and then drinking it pretty quickly.. which makes my stomach feel like a washing machine for a while but...

Hi guys,
I was asking the other day which SFS was the best to take, and Bev replied giving me a great rundown of the different types...ANYWAY, my point being that she said Benefiber now comes in chewable tablet form - so I don't know if that's an option for you? I don't even know if we have it in Canada because I haven't been able to find it yet, but I assume its available in the US though.
Hope that helps

That's a good idea about the fork.
ANd I know what you mean about the washing machine feeling in your stomach - lol!!
Mine doesn't get 'chunky' if I stir WHILE I'm pouring the powder in slowly. If I just dump it in and then stir, I get the chunks, and that makes me gag. Yuck. Also - I found that the colder the water is, the more chunks form....sometimes I put water in the microwave for 10 seconds before I drink it.

I'll try that.. but it still would be SOOOOO much easier just to pop a pill than to mix and stir etc etc.

I have found that if I make peppermint tea and let it cool down and then mix in the acacia I don't notice any taste and it disolves well.

I have also found that if I need to just mix it in water if I let it sit for about 10 minutes it disolves and the water becomes clear (still doesn't taste great though - don't breathe through your nose while drinking )

Hope that helps,
Leigh

My trick is ice cold water mixed with a fork or whisk and drink it really fast through a straw. If you don't stop for a breath you don't get extra air and there is less gas from the straw, also I can't taste anything with the straw and I haven't noticed any lumps. I prefer the Walmart brand of Citrucel tablets but I know I'm not taking enough! The things we do to maintain some kind of normal existence.

Tammy

I take Fiber Choice --- I don't have any trouble with it at all -- and I know a couple others on here also take it without trouble -- but some have had gas with it. It is a chewable tablet -- and it works great! No more endless glasses of fiber filled water!!!

Each one has 2 grams of soluble fiber. So -- no - you don't. I was just like you -- that's why I looked for these --- and most tablets only have about a half gram of fiber.... these are much better. Here is a link about them:

Are the generic ones just as good?
I think I'm going to try these when I'm traveling on weekends. Thanks!

They do have small travel size tubes they sell which may be a good way to try and see if these work well for you.
