Hey Guys,

I picked up some imitation crab legs tonight and noticed that they have sorbitol in them. Not too much, 1.7g per 85g of meat, but still, does that mean I shouldn't eat them.

To be perfectly honest, I don't even know what sorbitol is, I just know we try and avoid it.

Is it common in imitation crab? Because I love crab but have never noticed it as an ingredient before, so I'm hoping it's just the brand I bought.

Does anyone think it would be safe?
Thanks,
Kelly

I just bought some and saw the same thing-I put in in the jok rice (congee. BTW it's a great breakast- but I was concerned about the sorbitol as well....It's really a very small amount...So far I'm feeling ok, though.

As far as I know the amount is sooooo small that it wouldn't affect you. After all, the crab doesn't actually taste sweet, does it? It's like trace amounts of dairy being in some food substances. It isn't likely to be enough to cause problems. Believe me, if it were, Heather would be warning us!!!
