Hi All, I have a question.....are Nutri-Grain bars safe to eat? I buy them for my kids and I used to eat them for snacks. I just want to know so I can start eating them again. I eat samll meals throughout the day so I avoid big meals and they make great snacks.
Thanks!

I am also lactose intolerant. I snack on a soy protein bar from GenSoy. They have mint flavored, peanut butter favoured and double chocolate flavored. They are very good to snack on but a little expensive. I buy them bulk from Cosco.

I eat a lot of the Rice Krispies Treats. They seem to be safe for me.

From what I have read about them if they have whole wheat flour, fructose, or anything such as bran it may be bad for you and could trigger your IBS. I avoid all bars like that because it has artificial sweetner or something in it. I am still learning, after reading all I have about IBS I really have to be on the offensive with all that I allow to go into my system. Good luck with your search. Read over the FAQ that Heather has on this board, it will tell you about the whole grains and the bran, very informative and a must have for IBS people!

Those bars are so darn handy aren't they? Convience foods are what I really miss.
Cereals without bran, granola and dried fruit seem to be ok (such as rice and corn chex) and maybe you can find a recipe to make cereal bars with them? I don't know, I've never tried. Here is a link to Heather's honey glazed snack mix: web page. Good luck!
