Well, I went back to my doctor and asked if I could try a prescription for Modulon, after hearing Kimm on the board say that it worked for you when the Dicetel didn't.

My doc wanted me to give the Dicetel a chance, and I gave it two months with zero improvement. Well, I've been on the Modulon for about a week, and I must say, it actually appears to be doing something! I'm still in quite a bit of pain and still having trouble eating, but it doesn't hurt quite as much, and the D hasn't been quite as severe.

So, now I've got my fingers crossed that this drug will help my tummy and assist me in getting back on track. Now I just have to get through my colonoscopy in one week (scared to death about that!).

Thanks Kimm for mentioning your success with Modulon, glad you did!

Kelly

Hiya,
I just wanted to say yay that you found something that is making you feel a bit better. When I was in Canada, I was given a prescription for the same thing but left so quickly for England that I never started taking it.
I'm glad to hear it's working for both you and Kimm so that when I go back and get put on it (maybe), I'll have good info on it already.
I hope you keep feeling better!

I am so happy that it's working for you!!!

Give it a little more time to work....I didn't feel a significant difference until I'd been taking it about 3 weeks.

Now....I have very little stomach pain anymore....of course I still get my bad tummy days but they're not even 1/2 as bad as they used to be.

Keep me posted on how you're doing with it!!!

Don'tcha just love these boards where we help each other? What would we do without them!? You gals rock! Kimm, thank you for helping our Miss Kelly; she needed that from you, and you were there for her. I love that!

Kelly, honey, the colonoscopy is a piece of cake. Look forward to those marvelous drugs you're gonna get! Oh yeah! (Okay, so the day before ain't so much fun drinking all that laxative and spending the entire day in the bathroom -- but other than that, it's SOOOOOO relaxing!)

Yaay to both of you wild and crazy gals!

Kim,

Are you still taking this? I'm seeing my doctor today and I remember you telling me it's worked wonders for you, way betetr than Dicetel. That's what I'm taking now and it's not doing a good job. Let me know. Thanks.

Hello,

Thought I'd jump in and reply here since I've taken it as well. I took Dicetel too for awhile and it did absolutely nothing for me, so I asked about the Modulon (on Kimm's suggestion) and the doc switched me to that. It's similar to the Dicetel (as in you have to take it faithfully not just as needed) but I found it did make a slight improvement. I think Kimm noticed more of an improvement, I only noticed an improvemnet for a few days and then was back to normal, but I haven't even had an official diagnosis yet so that could be why it's not working for me.

I did speak to my pharmacist about it though, and he said it's a very old drug but a very good one, something a lot of docs don't prescribe anymore so you may have to ask for it. He said it works really well and doesn't have as high of an occurance of side-effects (i.e. causing extra D or C) than alot of the other ones.

Hope that helps!
Kelly

Thanks for adding that. I will ask my doctor today to switch me to it.
