...as requested. And yous* probably thought I forgot! I know that a recipe was posted on how to make it, but here are my findings, straight from the Jersey Shore boardwalk:
It is pretty much choosing your own poison! The first ingredients I checked were on a box in a variety type shop, that sells everything from hats to hermit crabs, and there was egg in it! Since that and milk are my worst enemies, I kept hunting. At one of the actual specialty candy shops where they make it there thermselves, the ingredients were: Corn Syrup, Sugar, Fructose, Partially hydrogenated coconut oil, Salt, Artificial flavor, Liquor choclate, Soya Lecithin (an emulsifier), Artificial colors yellow 5 & 6, Blue 1 & 2, Red 3 & 4. I know that fructose and coconut oil can be bad, but I usually can sneak in fructose here and there, so I bought this kind I have one piece after I eat a meal here and there, and I've been better than ever. Is this too risky to be chancing though? I don't know what alot of those ingredients are! I am slowly learning that if you don't know what something is, don't eat it! It'll bite ya in the butt later! But, maybe having it once a year won't kill me! Oh, and I found another "cheapy" brand that contained milk.
*yous= jersey speak for "you all"- took me to the fourth grade to learn that it's not really a word!

That is the one thing that I absolutly have to buy when I'm at the shore, oh and a large shaved ice. It's not officially summer in NJ to me until I've had one of the two. I did become a gluton one time with the Taffy and boy did I pay for it. I've learned to limit it to 2 pieces a day.

Eating some in small amounts you should be fine. But like with anything that is risky, beeeee careful. Whenever I'm not sure, I try things on a day when I'm not obligated to be anywhere.
